before

KING Caspian was a determined man. If he ever focused on something, he would stay up nights, days, weeks, even months until he found an answer.

That's how it would be to find a cure for his wife.

Caspian's head was cluttered with how to save his wife from walking into her death — including his future child. The queen was nine months pregnant, with only a few days until she gave birth.

"I will try to be back before dawn." The king looked at one of the maids, she was the one in charge taking care of the queen.

"Your Majesty — the queen can't—" Caspian was quick to cut her sentence.

"I will not sit here and wait for my wife and child to wait for their tomb to be ready." Caspian spat, pointing his finger toward the closed door of their bedroom.

Without another word, Caspian was gone. He rode a horse all around the village, seeking to find anyone who could help, but to his luck, nobody would involve themselves with sorcery. But he couldn't give up — and he wasn't.

Sundown was starting, and the pink, yellow skies were turning into a glum atmosphere, his horse rode softly around the woods, but there was something, a trail, a trail that made Caspian furrow his eyebrows. He ordered his horse to stop, jumping off, and looking at the trail more closely. They were a trail of shoes, and his eyes followed up to where they led them.

The king saw a small cottage house, he was desperate, meaning he would go knocking on every door he saw to find his answers.

So he got on top of his horse and followed the trail that led him to the cottage. Inside, there was a window that reflected a small light, Caspian made sure to tide his horse to a tree next to the cottage, so it wouldn't be seen.

He looked through the window, finding a man who wore a large black coat, the king's eyes looked all around the place and it was filled with bottles and cauldrons.

He was the key.

Caspian knocked on the wooden door, waiting for a moment, but there was no answer, and so he knocked again, but there was no answer, again.

"I know someone is in there — I'm a man in distress. My-my pregnant wife is extremely ill and I am looking for someone that can help her." Caspian blurred looking down as he stayed on the door, he could hear the muffled noise of movement inside.

The door opened to reveal the man. His hair was black, he seemed young, and he wore a black coat.

"Your Majesty." The deep voice of the man greeted him in amazement, he wasn't expecting to ever see the king up this close. "You said your wife is ill?"
