36 | WEIRD SENSATIONS

TWO more days until Homecoming. All preparations were ready, and everyone felt as excited as they were for Cotillion. There wasn't a moment where someone wasn't counting the hours.

The class periods were going by so slowly that it was killing the students. With their mind focused somewhere else it was impossible for them to focus on schoolwork.

And even if Cassia was also distracted about Homecoming — because she was, there was also something else bugging her mind.

Something that made her powers feel jittery and she couldn't control it. They had been turning off and on this morning, it was getting exhausting. Countless times she had to pick up her feet or move her hands to stop the ice from spreading. Not to mention her head had been spinning.

It had been going on since the morning, and at first, she thought it was a simple chilly morning, but as the sun began to shine she figured it wasn't that.

She simply couldn't think of what it could be. Her mind was completely fogged with it.

But it didn't last.

"Hiya!" Her eyes blinked and flickered over toward Harry, watching how he stood next to her.

"Hi, Harry." She smiled brightly. "What can I do for you?"

"I just wanna hang out with yeh. Can't I?" With his arms crossing over his chest, he glanced at the girl with a pair of furrowed brows and a smirk.

"Oh, yes. You can of course." Not wanting to sound rude she offered the pirate a smile.

"Actually..." Harry trailed off looking down at his hook, "I made yeh something. Since ye're always supposed to gift someone something for Homecoming."

He reached into his pocket, bringing out a small handmade bracelet. It was braided leather with a small snowflake in the middle. Cassia couldn't help but gasp at the gesture.

"Harry..." She took the bracelet from his hand, gracing her fingers with his skin. "It's beautiful. You didn't have to."

"I wanted to." He flickered his eyes to meet her brown ones. Taking the bracelet from her and helping her put it on.

The brunette admired the bracelet once more before in an impulse she hugged the pirate. But Harry was quick enough to reciprocate the action, wrapping his arms around her waist and squeezing her more onto him.

Feeling his touch made Cassia's eyes glow, something that hadn't happened in a while. And the only reason she knew it happened was because she felt her magic move. All of a sudden the jitters got stronger. It only made her pull back.

"Sorry." She mumbled stepping back.

"It's okay." Harry didn't mind the action, in fact, he loved it. "Yeh could give me a hug any time yeh want to, Cassia."

Still to this day, she was not used to hearing her name come out of Harry's lips. But she loved it still.

She hadn't noticed it, but her hands were still clasped with Harry's. However, when she began to feel the ground where she was stepping freeze, she strode back pulling away.

"Sorry, cold feet." She smiled with thin lips, only making Harry smile.

The pirate brought his hand to place strands of her hair behind her ear, but when he creased his brows Cassia shared a confused look with him. She felt him twist a strand of hair between his fingertips.

"Have yeh always had this?" He brought the strand to meet her eye. Her eyes blinked quickly in confusion. But Harry felt he would've taken notice of this.

It was white.

"Uhm, no." She grabbed the strand of hair.

Cassia looked at the rest of her hair, it was brown in its natural state. She didn't understand why half of her strand was white and the rest was brown. She thought of paint, but she doesn't have an art class. And she hasn't seen Mal in a while.

"That's weird." She whispered. "I don't know why it's white." This time she glanced at Harry.

If she was lost, she couldn't even imagine how much more Harry could be. She decided she was going to brush it off and forget about it by painting it with a smile.

"It's okay, I'm sure it's nothing bad." She scrunched her nose with a smile, tugging the strand behind the rest of her hair to not be seen.

Harry noticed what she was trying to do, and he didn't want to push her into answers or questions she didn't want to have. So he did the same thing she did, ignore it and move along. He offered her a small smile and followed with what was next.

"Are yeh excited for what's going on in two more days?" He sounded, brushing his fingers through his hair in a nervous matter.

Two more days, of course. Homecoming. The days were passing by so fast Cassia almost forgot about it. But she couldn't. How could she! Her nights were filled with excitement she could barely sleep.

"Yeah." A nod was sent Harry's way. "You?" She came closer, her hands in front of her, brushing her pink with his.

"I'm the most excited pirate here." He whispered, upon intertwining his pinky with hers, Cassia could feel her heart flutter.

It made the girl hum, feeling her feet release flakes of ice. She picked them up separately, glancing at Harry who smirked.

"am I making yeh nervous?" He teased. His head came closer toward her, lowering from the height difference.

"You know, maybe we should walk." She ignored his previous comment, but still rolled her eyes.

But Harry wasn't going to back down, "Answer the questions, Cassia." His tongue dragged her name.

The pair now walked with their hands to themselves. Cassia crossed her arms over her chest while Harry messed around with his hook.

"Of course not." And as if he knew she was lying, Harry's smirk grew wider. His tongue stuck inside his bottom lip.

"Of course yes." He nodded mischievously, his eyes glancing at the girl who smiled.

The brunette came to a stop in front of the pirate, causing his shoes to squeak from the sudden motion.

"What makes you think that? Maybe it's the other way around." She batted her lashes with a smirk, watching Harry's Adam's apple bob up and down.

Maybe he was even nervous right now.

Scrunching her nose, Cassia stepped closer. "See you tomorrow, pirate boy."

Hearing the nickname leave Cassia's lips made Harry like it even more than when Elliot would call him that. He didn't mind the nickname when it came from her.

He watched her walk away, leaving him alone standing. And feeling a small smile grow on his lips.
