26 | DUALITY

THERE was the saying opposites attract. What are opposites? Well, it falls into different categories. Like, love and hate, black and white, yes and no, fire and water. Good and bad. In short words, Cassia and Harry.

Cassia happened to be the pure definition of good, she followed all the rules, went to class, and respected all staff.

Harry was the duality in this. He was the definition of bad, he broke all the rules and was always late to class, and yet, he needed to learn not to speak up to the staff. Literally all these things.

But who doesn't like a bad boy?

When Cassia first saw Harry on that Island she felt something inside her move. She didn't know what, but even her magic felt it. This never happened with anyone at Auradon Prep. This was a new feeling she had discovered.

And for Harry, when he first saw Cassia he felt as if he had finally found that missing piece of his puzzle. He felt complete, a whole. There was no going back to how he felt before meeting her, and he didn't want to.

A bit of duality could be good for anyone.

"When are you going to see that Harry has googly eyes for you." With the pair walking outside the school, Elliot spoke, his eyes squinting from the rays of sun.

"That's because he doesn't." Cassia glancing at the guy spoke with what seemed assurance mixed with gloom.

The boy licking his lips, proceeded. "Don't you like him?" And Cassia could only glance more at Elliot.

She did like him, but she couldn't admit it. Why wouldn't she? What stopped her? There was simply no reason for her to.

Not saying anything, "You do!" The son of Rapunzel gasped, "See! And he likes you!" He wanted to tell her so badly that the guy felt the same way.

But it wasn't up for the boy to do so, this was between Cassia and Harry. And whatever decision the pirate would make it was his, and not Elliot's.

"You don't know that. People from the Isle don't do dating remember?" She spoke not denying Elliot's past sentence.

The boy shrugged, "Well maybe he changed his mind. You're only shutting him out because you're too afraid to give it a shot."

And maybe Elliot was right. Her mind would occasionally play games with her, telling her that no boy like Harry Hook would ever set their eyes on someone like her. Even if the signs were very clear, the brain would manage to convince her.
