| LAST DAY BEFORE SUMMER BREAK

THE day was finally here. Summer had arrived and everyone would get to go home for the break. Everybody was excited and relieved from officially being free from finals and school, all anyone could talk about was how eager they were to go back home and enjoy the summer.

Cassia herself was excited to go back, wanting to see her father. Also, she wanted to see Salos to finally ask him what he meant that night of Cotillion when he told her they needed to talk.

That only gave her hope that the wizard knew what was going on with her.

Nonetheless, Cassia couldn't wait to enjoy the breeze of the fields, practice a few sword combats with her dad, and finally, sit in the garden whistling to the birds.

That's mostly what Cassia would do back at home. It wasn't much, but the girl enjoyed every single bit of it.

The rest of the evening consisted of Cassia talking with Evie and Mal about Evie's new castle, which she had bought with all the money from her hard work on all the dresses. Cassia had gotten the chance to see it the day she got it — it was comforting. There was another topic that the trio was talking about, and it was VK Day, the event they had planned since Cotillion and everyone was excited.

"So, who did you guys pick?" Cassia was curious as to who the girls could've picked.

"I picked Celia, Dr.Facilier's daughter," Mal said while she ate a chip from a bowl she was holding.

The three of them sat outside on one of the benches, everyone was enjoying their last day outside before leaving.

"I chose Dizzy." Evie smiled. Cassia had heard a lot about the young girl, and hearing Evie talk gold about her just showed how much she cared for the young VK.

"Who did the boys pick?" Cassia asked once more.

"They both chose each twin of Mr. Smee —" The crunch of Mal's chip came in contact with her sentence as she talked. "You know, Captain Hook's first mate."

Cassia swallowed at the mention of the last name Hook, something Mal didn't miss, the girl had seen how close the pair was back on the Isle and she was not not going to mention it—

"Talking about Hook family—" Mal set her bowl on the wooden table with a smirk. "—I saw a certain Hook all over you on the Isle, what was that about?"

"You know, I've been wondering that too." Evie was quick to agree following on Mal's track, knowing where she was going with this.

"I — Uh— That was nothing." Cassia furrowed her eyebrows laughing.

"Oh, pluh-ase, that was not nothing." Mal looked at the girl in front of her, "One thing I know about Harry is that he just doesn't talk for nothing. He was flirting with you."

Evie's squeal filled the table making Cassia jump from the sudden noise, she didn't know what to say because Mal wasn't wrong. Cassia did know that Harry had flirted.

"Evie!" Cassia was quick to bring her hands on the table looking around.

"Sorry!" Whispered the blue-haired girl with a giggle. "But oh my gosh, I saw the tension, I had to save you because if not—" She clicks her tongue doing a hook motion with her finger, "hooked you would've been."

Maybe she already was, but she didn't want to admit it.

"Aye, I personally don't like him but, he seemed pretty interested in you, Cass." The girl with now bright-ish purple hair smirked, her knee was up on the bench and she used it to rest her arm.

Both Evie and Mal had decided to get a change of look not so long ago, Mal had gotten rid of the bangs and cut her hair shorter, also dying her hair an almost bright purple, while Evie simply dyed the top of her hair black — fading into the dark blue.

Cassia thought they still looked amazing.

"No, he's not." There was no way Harry Hook was interested in Cassia from Narnia of all people, there was no chance.

"Why wouldn't he?" Evie is quick to ask.

"Because he's—" Cassia is interrupted by Evie—

"A villain kid?" She was poking fun at the girl.

"No!" Cassia was quick to answer, she didn't want them to think she had trouble with him being a villain kid. "I was going to say that he's ruthless, ruthless people don't like goody two shoes."

And the silence that followed only made the girl's cheeks flush a crimson color, "Oh." Cassia had forgotten about Evie and Mal, two VKs, who had fallen for Ben and Doug, two AKs.

But they weren't offended, they couldn't be.

"See, we're living proof that ruthless people can fall in love with goody two-shoes people." Mal delivered a wink to Cassia who furrowed her brows at the usage of words—

Falling in love—

"I never said falling in love." Cassia sounded confused, making the girl with purple hair smirk.

"Oh, really? Bummer, I probably heard wrong." Mal snickered lightly, grabbing the bowl back from the table — she hadn't heard wrong.

"Well, he didn't fall in love with me, and I didn't fall in love with him." Cassia crossed her arms letting out her words, but she later regretted them after Evie spoke—

"We never said you fell in love. We're talking about ruthless people, Cass." The smirk that filled the blue-haired girl's complexion could be seen from miles away.

"I— No, I'm just staying for both parts, nobody is in love here." Cassia was quick to nod, the girls in front of her mirroring along with puckered lips.
