TW: DEATH

Clementine hasn't left the house for days; she has no energy too.

Her eyes all red as hoping her mother is okay,

"Honey, I think we should visit your mother." Her aunt says from the other side of the door.

"Has she gotten better?" Clementine said wiping her tears in hope. A mix of emotions drowning her.

"I'm sorry my darling." Tears slowly dripping from her face even if Clemmie can't see her.

Muffled cries were heard, a few hours later. She had no more tears left to cry. Tears imprinted on her face.

Even if her mother wasn't the best mom, no child should've suffered that.

Weak, Clementine got up to go to the medical center, she looked rough and extremely tired, her hair messy and her dress crumpled. She couldn't care less though.

When they set foot into the center a doctor led her to her mother's room.

Her mother's lifeless body laying down as her eyes looked empty. Clementine simply stared at her with so many emotions filling her mind. She knelt down onto her knees with her face emotionless.

"..." Silence was all there was, the noise outside and around the hospital was tuned out. Everything was so slow yet so quick.

Bandages surrounded her body; she looked like a mannequin.

Clementine wondered "Did she think of me before she died.?" She thought of every good moment she had with her mother. Before her dad left when they were a whole family.

Now there's nobody left just her and herself. Not her mom not her dad, her. She didn't even have Cole. Could her life get any worse?

It was dark when she got back. Her aunt outside making dinner while she was in her room contemplating everything.

She felt like she was going crazy. Her mind spinning like a carousel.

She walked into her mother's room the traces of her flowery smell on her bedsheets, her clothes her things.

Her life was turned upside down. Her body felt shaky she could barely stand up. She felt nauseous and suffocated.

"Honey, come eat your gonna get sick." Her aunt says knocking on her door

"Leave me alone. Please" Clementine said shakily, she had no energy to walk or do anything.

Her aunt left, after a good 40 minutes she went outside looking for comfort.

She wrote down on a piece of paper,

" Dear Cole,

I love you truly, but I don't know if I can allow myself too. Meet me in the hayfields.

From Clementine."

She slipped it under his door and left before anyone could notice.

She waited with a scarf around her neck as cold air brushed against her face. As the sun set, a few thin strips of clouds on the horizon turned a shimmering gold.

She sat there waiting.

Cole read the letter and put on a coat then left out the door. He saw Clementine looking at the sunset.

"So why did you want to talk?" He asked sitting down next to her.

"I'm going to be straightforward with it, look whenever I get close to anyone something bad happens, I'm a walking curse! You should leave me too, if you stay you might get hurt." She said her voice all brittle even if her eyes were tired of crying all red and numb.

"I don't care if I get hurt Clemmie as long as I'm with you." Cole said softly smiling.

Clementine giggled, "I'm sorry for not explaining why I became distant. My mom got hurt and she uhm died earlier today." Clementine said still smiling.

"Clementine, why didn't you tell me? I'm sorry you uhm had to go through that..." Cole said shocked and worried.

"I didn't want to burden you" Clemmie said wiping her nose.

"You could never burden me, Clemmie." He assured her.

"Still, I think we should maybe stop this for a while, I just need to be by myself." Clemmie cried.

She left to go home, leaving Cole quite hopeless.
