Phuwin had just finished packing for his move back to Thailand. With his bags neatly packed, he took a refreshing shower and dressed in a comfortable t-shirt and baggy pants. The doorbell rang, signaling James’s arrival.

Phuwin opened the door to find James, his close friend and a renowned wedding planner in the U.S. James’s usually bright demeanor was tinged with sadness.

Phuwin: “Hey, James! Come on in.”

James: “Hey, Phu. I can’t believe you’re really leaving. I thought we’d have more time together.”

James stepped inside and wandered into Phuwin’s bedroom, his eyes scanning the packed bags. He began to ramble, his voice tinged with a mix of concern and melancholy.

James: “Did you really pack everything? I mean, did you double-check? You don’t want to forget anything important. Are you sure you’re ready? Oh, and don’t forget to...”

Phuwin, smiling softly at his friend’s fussing, walked over and wrapped his arms around James, pulling him into a comforting hug. James stiffened at first but then melted into the embrace, his shoulders relaxing.

Phuwin: “James, it’s all under control. I’ll stay in touch, and you’re always welcome to visit me in Thailand. We can hang out and explore the place. Don’t worry so much.”

James: (muffled) “I just… can’t believe you’re leaving. You’re the only person who’s really gotten me since I moved here. I don’t know what I’d have done without you. You’ve been my rock, my confidant. I’ll miss you so much.”

Phuwin pulled back slightly, looking into James’s eyes with warmth and understanding.

Phuwin: “I’ll miss you too, James. You were the first person to really make me feel at home when I arrived here. Remember how clueless I was at the start? You helped me through so much. I couldn’t have done it without you.”

James: “Yeah, well, I guess you’re my rock too. You’re the only one who’s never judged me and always understood where I’m coming from. I can’t find a true best friend like you anywhere else.”

Phuwin pulled back slightly, a playful glint in his eyes.

Phuwin: “You know, I’ll see you again soon. My parents’ anniversary is coming up, and you’re invited, remember? You can’t escape my family’s celebrations.”

James: “I’ll definitely be there, though I’ll be coming straight from a busy schedule. I’ll have to join the party fashionably late.”

Phuwin: “I’ll be looking forward to it. And remember, you can’t escape the Thai hospitality.”

With a final hug, they both prepared to head to the airport. At the airport, they arrived and Phuwin checked in for his flight.

James: “Alright, this is it. Time to say goodbye. Promise me you’ll be careful, okay?”

Phuwin: “I promise. And I’ll call you as soon as I get there. We’ll catch up next week.”

James: “Deal. I’ll be looking forward to it. Have a safe flight, and don’t forget about me while you’re soaking up the sun.”

Phuwin: “Never. You’re stuck in my thoughts.”

They shared one last heartfelt hug, Phuwin’s gaze lingering on James as he headed towards security. James waved until Phuwin disappeared into the boarding area, then turned and left the airport, his heart heavy but full of fond memories.
