#2 | THE AFTERMATH
You sat on FaceTime, venting to your best friend Rin about the disaster of a blind date. Rin's pixelated image blinked on your screen as she propped her chin in her hand, her curiosity piqued by your sour mood. "So, let me get this straight—you went on this blind date your mom set up, only to find out it was with Kenma? The same Kenma you've been at war with since we were kids?" Rin's chocolate-brown eyes widened in disbelief as she adjusted her phone, clearly getting more comfortable for what was bound to be a juicy story.
You groaned, rubbing your temples. "Yeah, him. Of all people, it had to be Kenma Kozume. It was awkward as hell, and he basically ignored me the whole time. Not that I minded. I was ready to walk out, but then he mentioned something about losing a bet to Kuroo, and that's why he was there. Classic Kenma—always the reluctant participant."
Rin shook her head, a sly smile forming on her lips. "But what's the deal with you two anyway? I know there's more to it than him just being a 'little bitch,' as you say. There's got to be a real reason behind all this hostility."
You sighed deeply, knowing she wouldn't let it go until you spilled the details. "It's... complicated. I guess it all started when we were kids. Kenma and I, we used to be close—really close. He was my best friend, the only one I really had after my dad passed away..."

[ flashback ]
You were seven years old, and life had taken a turn for the worse after your father's sudden death. It was a confusing time, filled with sadness and loneliness that you didn't quite understand. But amidst all the grief, there was one person who made everything bearable: Kenma.
The two of you were inseparable back then. Your mothers were old friends, so naturally, you and Kenma spent a lot of time together. You'd play video games for hours, build forts out of pillows, and share secrets that you wouldn't dare tell anyone else. For a while, Kenma was your world, the one bright spot in an otherwise dark time.
But one day, everything changed. You walked into school, expecting just another ordinary day, only to be met with hushed whispers and sideways glances from your classmates. It felt like the whole school was staring at you, talking about you, judging you.
"That's her—the girl whose dad died. I heard her mom can't even pay the bills..."
"I heard her dad didn't die—he just left them. That's why they're so messed up..."
Their words were like knives, cutting deep into wounds that were still fresh and raw. You felt exposed, humiliated, like your most private pain had been put on display for everyone to see. The only person who knew about your father's death was Kenma. He was the only one you had confided in, trusting him completely. So, naturally, your mind went to the worst possible conclusion: Kenma had betrayed you.
You confronted him after school that day, your voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. "Why did you do it, Kenma? Why did you tell everyone about my dad?"
Kenma looked at you, genuinely confused, his golden eyes wide with shock. "Y/n, I didn't tell anyone. I would never do that..."
But you didn't believe him. How could you? The pain was too fresh, the betrayal too deep. Without another word, you turned on your heel and walked away, severing the bond that had once meant everything to you.
