#11 | ICE CREAM AND COMFORT

You woke up the next morning feeling more rested than you had in weeks. The stress of recent events had taken a toll on you, and taking the day off from work was just what you needed. You were lounging on the couch, clad in simple pajamas—black tank top and shorts—feeling the soft warmth of your cat Megatron, affectionately known as Mimi, curled up on your lap. The TV played random shows in the background, but your mind was blissfully blank. Your phone, turned off for the day, rested silently on the coffee table, untouched and ignored. For a moment, life felt uncomplicated.

That tranquility was shattered by the sudden ring of your doorbell. You sighed and reluctantly got up, leaving Mimi to her cozy nap. Shuffling to the door, you opened it to find Rin standing on your doorstep, her arms weighed down by several shopping bags.

"Hey, Y/n," Rin greeted with a warm smile as she stepped inside, removing her shoes. She was dressed casually in a grey hoodie and pajama pants, her long black hair pulled into a messy bun that somehow still looked effortlessly stylish. Rin looked like she was on a mission as she dragged you by the arm into the living room.

"You come over every day," you teased as you followed her, "you might as well move in with me."

Rin set the bags down and plopped onto the couch, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You know, that's not such a terrible idea."

Before you could respond, Rin reached into one of the bags and pulled out a container of your favorite ice cream flavor, along with an assortment of snacks. "I figured you could use some comfort food. You've been looking pretty down lately."

Your heart warmed at the gesture. "You're the best, Rin. Thank you."

Rin handed you the ice cream, and you both settled onto the couch. Megatron, the Maine Coon kitten, wasted no time in jumping onto Rin's lap, purring contentedly. It was no secret that the kitten adored Rin more than anyone else.

"I think I might have to start competing with Shouyou for your attention," you joked as you got up to fetch spoons from the kitchen. "You're over here so often; it's like you live here."

From the corner of your eye, you saw Rin's cheeks flush a light pink. "There's nothing going on between me and Sho—I mean, Hinata," she stammered, slipping back into her nickname for him.

"Oh really?" you teased as you returned with the spoons. "Not like you were practically all over him at that party a few months ago. 'Mmm Shouyou, I need you~'" You mimicked in a high-pitched voice, making Rin squirm.

She shot you a playful glare. "Okay, okay, enough with the teasing. Let's just watch the movie, shall we?"

You both settled in for a movie night, the evening stretching out with laughter and light-hearted banter. The movie was a romance—a genre you and Rin both enjoyed for its escapism and feel-good vibes. As the credits rolled, you and Rin found yourselves lost in conversation.

"I wish I had someone like that," Rin sighed wistfully, her gaze fixed on the screen even though the movie had ended.

You gave her a knowing look. "Oh, but you do have someone like that," you said with a smirk.

Rin narrowed her eyes playfully at you. "Get out."

"I live here!" you laughed, flopping back onto the couch.

Rin rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. "Should we actually move in together?" she asked, her tone suddenly serious.

You considered it for a moment, letting the idea sink in. "Hmm, yeah," you said thoughtfully. "It sounds like a good plan."

Rin's face lit up with excitement. "Then let's go apartment hunting on Saturday."

You chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Sure, imagine living with you, the Rin Sato—I'll practically lose my sanity."

"Hey!" Rin protested, swatting your arm playfully.

You both ended up laughing, the tension from recent days melting away. The conversation naturally shifted back to lighter topics, but the idea of moving in together lingered in the air, filling you with a sense of anticipation.

As the night wore on, you and Rin grew more relaxed. The movie had long ended, and the conversations had tapered off into a comfortable silence. The gentle hum of the TV provided a soothing backdrop as you both sank deeper into the couch.

Rin shifted slightly, leaning against you, her head resting on your shoulder. You felt a sense of calm wash over you, the weight of the past few weeks momentarily lifted. You draped an arm over her, feeling her warmth and the steady rise and fall of her breathing.

Megatron, who had curled up between you two, purred contentedly, adding to the serene atmosphere. The room was quiet except for the occasional crackle from the TV and the soft sounds of the night outside.

As the minutes ticked by, the exhaustion from the day's events began to catch up with you. Your eyelids grew heavy, and despite the cozy setting, you couldn't fight the drowsiness any longer. You felt Rin's breathing slow and steady against you, her presence a comforting constant.

You let out a contented sigh, closing your eyes and allowing yourself to drift off. The gentle rise and fall of Rin's breathing, combined with the warmth of Megatron's fur against your legs, made for a peaceful end to a long day.

Before you knew it, both you and Rin had fallen asleep on the couch, wrapped in a blanket of calm and companionship. The challenges of the past were momentarily forgotten, and the promise of new beginnings lay ahead as you slept soundly, side by side.
