A K I R A

I ran into the bushes while the rabbits and deer followed me behind. The cold breeze of winter sunlight was so freshly rooted to my ears, I could hardly feel my own breaths.

"Stop, Ari." I heard him yelling from behind, gasping from the long run we had been running.

"Catch me!" I shouted back at him as a smirk raised on his lips. He chuckled and increased his pace. I tug the loose end of my saree into the front of my band and ran with all my energy deep into the forest.

"Ari Stop!" I heard him again and turned back to face him while still running further. His face was now barred from the twigs, tense and fear clearly visible, but yet his face blurry.

"Ari loo-

Before he could complete, his voice faded into the thickness of the forest. I turned around to see myself falling down the hill. The dark blue stream of the ocean was now calling me to perish. No! NO! And my body hit into the splash of water.

"No!" Abruptly I sat up in my position panting into the space of my room. Heavily heaving my heart, I caught my breath before gliding down the bed. I wiped off the beads of sweat formed on my forehead and closed my eyes while clutching onto the linens of my bed.

I snorted, lurched forward in the direction of the restroom, and peered into the mirror. The terror on my face was still crystal clear. I splash ounces of water on my face.

I shook my head, taking out the thoughts of the dream. I had thalassophobia since birth and the fact that I almost drowned last night in the pool made it worse than a nightmare.

Except my shadow had been gone for almost a fortnight. A smile crept onto my lips just at his thought. His deep green eyes, the scar on his face and his shining golden dusky skin. All the memories of that night flew into my head, making my heart lighter. Am I mad?

Taking off my jammies, I stepped under the shower. The cold drops drizzled over my body, and the sunlight reflected throughout. As he said, I shifted into a new apartment, apparently pricier than my whole existence but it was worth it. It was on the 12th floor; perhaps a good thing to refrain him from breaking into my room, with an amazing city view. It's heaven at night.

After drying up my hair, I did the least wanted skin care and wrapped up the towel around my body. "Fuck!" I tsk, looking at the clock hanging on the wall.

I had an appointment with the managing director and it was already late. Weekdays were my living nightmare for god's sake.

I slipped into a silk white shirt tucked into the pencil skirt reaching just below my knees. Waving my hair and pulling them into a loose bun, I walked out of my room. I just shifted into the apartment and hence, I had nothing available to feed.
