"(Y/N)?"

Kibutsuji had learned your name rather efficiently.

Now, for some reason, he couldn't stop saying it.

You were currently preparing breakfast for yourself and were trying your best to ignore him. You were going to travel today and you were preparing to have a large breakfast to get ready for the occasion.

"(Y/N)?" you heard him speak.

You ignored him.

"(Y/N)?"

"..."

"(Y/N)."

"Yes?!"

"Your pot is overflowing."

Your eyes widened in horror.

Kibutsuji watched as you freaked out and he sat back not bothering to help even a little bit. It had been a week since he had first come here and he was still getting used to your tendencies.

In all, you were a strange person.

He had concluded that you were not a normal human being. You were loud at times, and quiet at others, a mixture of responsible and irresponsible and overall, a conflicted being. There was however a strange kindness you possessed, he found it somewhat appealing but on the other hand also repulsive. He didn't know how to explain it. He wasn't his usual self.

He watched you slowly recover as you prepared your breakfast to enjoy it. Your hair was down for the first time, your eyes bright and gleaming, your skin glowing in the sunlight.

You had just finished cleaning the cottage and now you desired to relax.

You didn't notice his eyes on you and you lifted your plate and began walking away to go eat outside. Kibutsuji had wanted to observe your features a bit more but now that you had stepped out into the sunlight he stayed cooped up in the corner.

Just as last time, he refused to step anywhere near where the light shined too bright.

Once outside you began to eat in peace. Your mind wandered as you thought about the things that needed to occur later today.

You needed to make your way through a mountainous terrain to reach a town nearby. You wanted to sell knitted material. The people in your village were more than skilled at knitting and you knew you wouldn't make much profit unless you traveled. It also didn't help that you were now supporting two people in this cottage, your funds would run low soon. But still, instead of voicing your distress to the stranger in your house you decided to just take on the additional burden.

You were aware that the journey was long, tiring and dangerous but seeing as you had done it three times in the past you figured it would be alright.

You felt a bit uneasy about leaving your cottage in the hands of a man you had just met but from what you could see so far, this particular man was responsible enough.

Although he seemed to throw in the strangest comments here and there, he was clean and rather organized. He wasn't too difficult to live with and seemed to respect your personal space.

He disliked loud noises and unwanted attention. The person he seemed to be the most concerned about was himself and so you highly doubted he would cause trouble with the nearby villagers.

More than that you didn't want him to leave just yet.

You had forgotten what it was like to live with someone else. You felt comforted by having him in your space.

The journey up the mountain was a rigorous one. It required great concentration and self-awareness. You repeated this sentiment as you travelled on your way.

There was a thick snowstorm that had delayed your trip forcing you to travel by night.

As you walked through the crunchy snow you couldn't help but feel an eerie vibe around you. You didn't like walking at night, especially not now that it was snowing. The sky above you was pitch black and the howling wind made every loose branch and twig look like it was a moving object.

It was only when you heard the sound of a snapping twig that your feet stopped.

Your neck snapped backwards.

You saw a horrid thing.

A creature twice your height stood over you with seven eyes and a terrifying grin. It was drooling excessively, its eyes wandering in multiple directions, its hands reaching out toward you. Your eyes widened as you suppressed a scream.

You had never seen a demon before. You had kind of known they existed but you didn't think you would ever see one with your own two eyes.

Your reaction was simple.

You turned around and began running for your life. Your legs ran with all the strength you possibly had as you struggled to make your way through the thick snow. Your hands pushed and shoved tree branches aside, your legs growing numb as the rough contact with the ground caused your footing to be soaked. You gasped for air feeling overwhelmed, wanting nothing more than to survive this moment.

You actually managed to outrun the large thing for quite a while.

Run.

Run.

Run.

Your body was in flight mode. It was focused on escaping but that all changed when you fell.

Fear ran through your bones as you heard heavy footsteps coming from behind you, "Help!" you screamed.

"Help-,"

A hand was placed over your mouth and the demon bit down.

You immediately began to feel lightheaded. There was immense pressure on your shoulders, along with a massive amount of pain. The terrible pain went on for several seconds as you felt the fangs of the creature dig deeper and deeper into your skin. You gave a defeated whimper, your hands gripping the snow as you tried your best to bear the pain.

This all stopped, however, when you heard a sound, a swish of air that seemed to cut through the wind and then the dropping sound of the head of the demon you were running from.

The blood that stained the white snow beside you seemed so far away. You were dizzy but you still managed to feel yourself being flipped over.

In front of you was a man.

"You need not worry," the voice assured, "you'll be alright."

Looking up at him with teary eyes, you could only faintly see the man who saved you-his red long hair fell around his blurry features as your eyes began to close. Your hand gripped his arm trying to stay conscious but inevitably you couldn't and you collapsed in his arms.
