Letting Go

Gunfire and explosions rang out across the palace courtyard, Skoll was riding his motorcycle through the battlefield. He swerved and turned, shooting one Hound of Fenris in the head with his shotgun before gunning down two more. With all other Legions under his command, Skoll amassed an army with over six hundred thousand strong soldiers. That, along with Faye's contributions on the battlefield, Beelzebub and Lucifer personally freeing Hellhounds from camps across all the rings, and growing civil unrest had overwhelmed High King Hjalmar. He had no support and his city's defenses broke quickly under all the pressure. The Hounds of Fenris were outnumbered and outgunned, now they were desperately trying to hold their palace against Skoll's attacks. Some soldiers held a massive battering ram and were constantly running to the palace doors to break them open. The white and red Hellhound got off his bike and approached the gate.

"Clear the way!" a Redmane shouted.

The ramming squad moved back and in an instant, Skoll burnt through the door, allowing his men to storm the castle. Most enemy soldiers directly behind the door turned into piles of ash and the remainder fell back to allies. Skoll walked in and turned to Balgruff, Drago, Stein, and Faye.

"Secure the palace. I'll take down Hjalmar," Skoll said, looking up with narrowed eyes. "I can feel his presence. What's up there?"

"The top of the palace is a massive rooftop that's been designed into an arena. It's right above the throne room." Faye explained.

"Thanks. Balgruff, divide the Redmanes and World Serpents. Have them secure the other entry points and disable the defenses so our ships can get close. Aunt Faye, take your legion and the Iron Lords, I want the armory and any key locations under our control."

The two nodded and went in separate directions. Skoll made his way up the palace, killing more of Hjlamar's soldiers as he went. The higher he got, the heavier ordinance they were carrying, but nothing could stop a demon as strong as him. He had taken the power of two Jarls so he could face his grandfather on equal footing. If he managed to kill the High King and take his power, Skoll could rival a Deadly Sin in sheer strength. The only people who'd still be objectively stronger than him would be Ramiel and Lucifer, though he also knew he'd never amount to literal Demi-Gods. Though another part of him wondered if he even wanted that much power, it would come with a lot of responsibility that Skoll didn't want. The roof was made up of two levels, a lower one that held support beams for a massive open arena at the top of the palace. As he finally reached the roof, he found Hjalmar on the edge looking out at his realm.

"Was it worth it, boy?" he asked. "All this chaos and death for worthless hounds."

"You and those hounds are the same species." Skoll argued back.

"The same? They are violent, depraved creatures. You weren't there! Four thousand years ago, when they first rose up against Clan Fenris. My children, wives, siblings, all slaughtered by the Hellhounds they had ruled over. I alone saved Hell, and the Hellhounds themselves."

"Saved? You've killed billions, maybe even a trillion Hellhounds over your reign. How is that saving anyone!?"

"I prevented them from rebelling again, I controlled their population so they couldn't slaughter and kill themselves for dominance! And now, you ruined all my hard labour. Look at what you've done to Fenris."

Hjalmar turned to the side for Skoll to see the war torn city, but Skoll saw a revolution that was so close to victory. Fenris was built by Hellhounds and his clan had been massacring them for centuries. He thought about Loona, she was about to age out of the adoption system; there was no telling what she had to endure in those awful places or what Clan Fenris would've done to her had she not been adopted. This had to end, Skoll had to end it all now.
