Julian was confused. That was Sarah's dad outside. He didn't know who it could be. It was thankfully neither his' nor Zoi's father so that was a relief but who could it be. Also, it seemed as if Zoi had known who he was.
"Zoi, Do you know who that is?" Julian gestured inside as he spoke.
"Umm. I'm sorry, Juls. But I can't tell you that." She looked sincerely apologetic as she spoke so he trusted her.
Julian noticed Gabriel and Sammy walk by the store. Then turned and doubled back when they noticed Julian and Zoi standing outside.
"Hi guys, where is Sarah?" Sammy wondered aloud.
"Inside." Zoi gestured to the store but stopped them as they moved to go inside. "She is having a conversation with her father." She gave the boys a knowing look as she said the word "Father."
"Oh... We see. We will also wait with you we need to speak with her." Gabriel had a very calm way of speaking letting you know that he was in control and held the reins.
Julian knew that he was missing a lot of information and was not happy about it.
"What do you guys want with her? You have been spending a lot of time with the new girl considering you two are the most powerful demigods here."
"It's none of your business!" Sammy lashed out which surprised Julian for no reason.
"What my cousin is trying to say,"Gabriel corrected, "is that we have our own reasons for liking and being protective of Sarah and you have yours we won't question you if you don't question us."
"For the moment.'' Sammy said the words under his breath but being a child of Apollo Julian had an incredibly good sense of hearing. He brushed off the comment still considered for Sarah. What was she getting herself into hanging out with these two?
Sarah walked out of the room in shock. Gabriel and Sammy rushed to her first but Julian was right behind them. Zoi was on all three of their tails.
"Are you alright?" was the immediate question flung at Sarah by all of her friends.
"Yeah," Sarah said but then paused to look directly at Julian. "I know who my dad is and I've known who he was for a while now." She passed again to take a breath. "I am the–a daughter of Hades."
Julian was in plane and straight shock. He didn't know if he was more shocked that Sarah was the daughter of Hades or that it meant that he had just met Hades. Speaking of him, he was gone without a trace. Julian was curious what Sarah talked about with the Lord of the Dead.
That's When it hit him. The reason Gabriel and Sammy were being so protective of Sarah. They were her cousins.
"I'm sorry," Sarah continued. "I also lied about what I did yesterday. I was training with Gabriel and Sammy."
"Well not the entire day. We also did a good amount of bonding," Sammy interjected as Sarah rolled her eyes at him.
"That's the same thing!"
"No it isn't!" the two of them bickered. Julian smiled to himself. The two and sometimes three of them were like him and his siblings - always quarreling and fighting about something.
It was very nice to see all of them like that even if he was only really friends with Sarah and they had met a few days ago.
"So I know we're all wondering what did your dad say?"
"Sammy!" Zoi scolded.
"It's fine Zoi and I was playing to answer your question, Sammy."
"Maybe eventually," Sammy muttered.
"Hey! Now I'll tell everyone but you."
"That is completely unfair!" Sammy objected.
"It is completely fair. Gabriel, what do you think?"
"Nope, don't get me involved in your conversation. I do not want to be chased around the school by either one of you."
"Well you will get chased around by both of us if you don't." Sammy and Sarah agreed.
"Fine. I don't agree with either of you but Sarah just tell everyone." Sammy decided to stick his tongue out at Sarah in a playful manner and ended up getting chased by a small army of skeletons. Sarah also chased him with her midnight Black Sword.
By the time dinner had rolled around, Julian had had to take care of more than a few injuries but it was all in good fun. This dinner was much more pleasurable than the previous with everyone laughing and smiling.
By the end of the night everyone had seemingly forgotten Sarah's conversation with her father.
