Tick, Tick, Tick. Beep, Beep, Beep. Sarah woke up. She seemed to be in a blindingly white room with machines and cabinets everywhere. She was dressed in what seemed to be a hospital gown with blue dots on it. There was a clock with the date that read 2:40 a.m. EST 11/11/23. That could not be right. Sarah had school on the 1st. It could not have been 10 days.
She tried to do the math on what time she left. School ended at 3 and it could not have taken her more than an hour. Sarah felt dizzy. The world tilted sideways and she fell to the ground. The cool tile hit the side of her face. She heard yelling in the distance. Then, it all faded away.
Sarah woke up again under the same conditions, in the blinding white room with all of the machines around her. But this time there was a difference. There was a tall figure in the room leaning against the wall.
The boy stood to the side and he did not seem to notice that she was awake. Sarah did not know if he was friend or foe so she assumed the worst. She looked for any weapons. Of course there were none to be seen. Sarah did not know if she should be glad or sad about the fact. She decided it didn't matter and would wing it. She glanced over at the clock, 3:44 a.m. EST 11/11/23 it had only been an hour.That's when he noticed her.
"You're awake," he said.
"Yeah no duh," Sarah responded in what seemed to be the stupidest way possible.
"What's your name?" the boy asked.
"Why should I tell you that? For all I know you kidnapped me and had me under some kind of hallucinogenic (hull-sin-ic-a-gen-ic)," Sarah said exasperated and delighted without knowing why.
"You say that like you know what you're talking about," The boy responded amused.
"How do you know I don't?" Sarah wanted to throttle the boy now. She was so annoyed at him.
"I know that because if you did know what you were talking about, you would know you're not sedated. Also, it's pronounced hallucinogenic," replied the boy.
"You're just making that up," retorted Sarah in a way that probably made her sound like a crazy person.
"No I'm not" he stated in a very calm manner.
"You should also probably get back to bed before you pass out again," he said in the most irritating manner. But he was too late. The last thing Sarah heard was "by the way my name is Julian." Then she was out like a light.
