When Curtains Fall

Pete felt giddy. He couldn't sleep the night before.

There was a certain excitement he had for today's shooting.

After spending two days with Khun Shark, Pete could see why people come to shows like this. It was a great way to meet somebody whose paths wouldn't often cross with yours.

That way he got to meet both Khun Tiger and Khun Shark. It just made him realize how different their lives are.

Here he was, a broke twenty-year-old, working for Triads, against his will, and there they were two men searching for genuine love.

It left an uneasy feeling in Pete's stomach. As much as he liked the two he could never do something to put them in harm's way. And that was even before seeing them.

The guilt was eating him up so much on the last night of shooting in the cabanas that Pete didn't sleep a wink.

"Good morning, contestants!" At 8 AM he heard the producer's voice through the intercom in his cottage. "Today is the day that first matches move into the mansion! Are you guys excited?"

Pete was excited. While playing this game it was easy to forget his normal. His outside world and the troubles that followed the young man.

"The next part of the competition will take place in the luxurious mansion." The voice continued. "However, before we do that, a slight disclaimer. Due to recent unforeseen circumstances, only twelve of you have passed through the next phase of the game. The number of contestants who were disqualified because of verbal abuse, psychical outbursts, racial and homophobic slurs and general rule-breaking surprised us and the viewers. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated. Because of that, the rules of the game and the game itself were changed. We have asked our public to vote on the concept of the next phase and the majority voted for an open-concept game. Your assistants will bring you over to the mansion once you are packed. There we will go over the new rules. Once more, I will repeat the rules. No form of disgusting and crude behavior will be tolerated. You signed the contract and that makes you an exception to the law. Any kind of problematic behavior will lead to disqualification and if needed, a police report."

Well, that confirmed Pete's suspicion of Khun Monkey being eliminated.

Pete felt like throwing up. However, before he could do that he managed to pull himself together and pack the small number of things he brought with him.

When Net came knocking on his door, the young man went out dressed in the clothes those Chinese bastards provided him with.

"Woah! Khun Pete, you look amazing!" Net whistled and Pete blushed. "Are you ready to start the game for real? Without all of those degenerates?"

That question made him panic a hundred times more. He was here, for an illegal activity, after all.

The young man only hoped that no one would find out his true goal until the game was over. The Triads had police in their hands anyway. There was little to nothing that Pete could do differently.

Determined, he just smiled back at the young assistant.

He has to protect his family.

"That would be all, thank you for understanding." The producer's voice finished the announcement.

Now, Vegas wasn't surprised that many of the contestants would be eliminated at first. His two matches would be the perfect proof of that.

However, it made things much more tough on him. If there were only twelve of them left, it would be much harder to sneak out and secure the trade tunnel.
