Then you said, "I know, I feel very much the same,
But I am afraid that I don't know, knowing's not my thing"
'saturday, 30th september, 14:24pm.'
JUNGWON helps his grandma in the kitchen, plating the various foods, as all of his relatives run around the house - the adults sat at the table, and the kids, playing, talking, running. all of his cousins are little, and he only has one cousin his age. she lives in canada.
but despite all of the people there, he can't help but feel a little disappointed that jihye isn't here. how is he gonna face her in school? it would be so embarrassing. humilliating.
he shudders at the thought, brushing down his pale-blue hanbok, as he looks down to his baby cousin, hwayoung. the little girl has always had a connection to him, since she was tiny, and he doesn't mind. weirdly enough, her prefers spending time with his cousins over people his own age. not only are they literally closer to him by blood, he feels that he can actually be himself around them, without any fear of being judged.
or maybe he's just weird.
he hears the doorbell ring, and he moves to open the door, picking hwayoung up and holding her at his waist, as she breathes softly, playing with the collar of his hanbok. hwayoung is a very polite baby. but she's also very loud, when she's happy. which is almost all the time. she barely ever does cry, unless she's in genuine pain.
she's a blessing, and, jungwon's best friend. (despite the 15 year age gap.)
the two year old points at the door, and he chuckles, brushing her hair with his hand. "I know." he hums, moving to open it. his heart drops at the sight.
jihye stands, in a soft, baby pink hanbok, holding a container. she looks at him, and looks back down a little, awkwardly. "you didn't tell me the time. sorry if im late."
"uh- no, no. you're fine. come in." he chuckles breathlessly, moving out of the way for her. her face glowers with her usual makeup, though, this time around, her lips are a little more vibrant and the glitter on her eyes a little more shimmery. her hair falls straight, a contrast to the usual volumed hair she has daily, with little gold hoops in her ears. she fiddles with her nails, her hands adorned in gold rings and gold bracelets, as she bows to greet his grandma.
her dad follows in after, in a soft green hanbok. jungwon bows to greet him, but he smiles, patting his back. "no need."
