Isy was caught off guard when her phone rang unexpectedly. It was her boss, and from the moment she heard his voice, she knew something was wrong.

"Isabella, I need you to come to the office immediately," he said, his tone filled with urgency. "We've got a situation—multiple issues that only you can handle."

"Right now?" Isy asked, a knot forming in her stomach. "I'm with Adele, and we had plans... She's performing in a series of concerts, and I promised I'd be there for her."

"I'm really sorry, Isabella," her boss replied, his voice apologetic but firm. "But this can't wait. We're in a crisis, and we need you here as soon as possible. There's no one else who can take care of this."

Isy sighed deeply, glancing over at Adele, who was watching her with growing concern. "Okay," she said reluctantly. "I'll head over as soon as I can."

After she hung up, Isy turned to Adele, who was already bracing herself for bad news. "Who was that?" Adele asked, though she already seemed to know.

"It was my boss," Isy replied, her voice heavy with regret. "There's a major problem at work, and they need me to come in right away."

Adele's face fell, her eyes filling with disappointment. "But... you were supposed to be at my concerts," she said, her voice trembling. "We were going to spend these days together. I was counting on you being there."

Isy reached out to take Adele's hand, her heart breaking at the sight of Adele's distress. "I know, Adele. I wanted so much to be there with you, to see you perform, to support you. But it sounds like this situation at work is serious, and they're saying I'm the only one who can fix it."

Adele blinked back tears, trying to keep her voice steady. "So, when can you come back? Will you be able to join me for at least one of the concerts?"

Isy's expression grew even more pained. "I won't be able to come back, Adele," she said softly. "My vacation ends once I go back to the office. I won't be able to leave again."

Adele's eyes widened in shock, her voice barely above a whisper. "So... when will I see you again?"

Isy felt a lump in her throat, tears welling up in her eyes. "I don't know, Adele," she admitted, her voice thick with emotion. "I don't know when I'll be able to get more time off. It could be weeks... maybe longer."

Adele shook her head, her heart breaking. "But we just got this time together... and now you're leaving? I don't know if I can handle not knowing when we'll see each other again."

Isy pulled Adele into a tight embrace, holding her as if she never wanted to let go. "I'm so sorry, Adele," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I hate this. I hate that I'm letting you down. If there was any way I could stay, I would."

Adele clung to Isy, tears finally spilling over. "I just... I wanted you to be there with me, to share this with me. And now you're leaving, and I don't even know when we'll be together again."

Isy kissed the top of Adele's head, her own tears falling silently. "I promise you, as soon as I can, I'll come back to you. I don't know when, but I'll do everything I can to make it happen."

Adele nodded against Isy's shoulder, her voice small and filled with sadness. "I'll be waiting. I just wish it didn't have to be this way."

"I know," Isy whispered, holding Adele even tighter. "I wish it didn't either. But no matter how far apart we are, I'm always with you. Please don't ever forget that."

Adele's grip tightened, as if holding on could somehow stop time, keep Isy there just a little longer. "I won't forget. Just... please hurry back to me, okay?"
