Adele woke abruptly in the middle of the night, her body shaking with an intensity that left her breathless. The nightmare had been vivid, dragging her back to a time she had buried deep within her soul. The darkness of the room seemed to close in on her, amplifying her fear and isolation. Her heart raced uncontrollably, each beat echoing the terror she felt.
Isy, sleeping beside her, immediately sensed something was wrong. She turned towards Adele, her voice soft and filled with concern. "Adele, what's wrong? You're trembling... What happened?"
Adele struggled to steady her breathing, trying to push away the remnants of the nightmare. Her voice was barely more than a whisper, laden with raw emotion. "It was about when I was pregnant with Anton," she said, her voice quivering. Speaking about it made the pain feel as fresh as ever, as if the memories had never been buried.
Isy gently took Adele's trembling hand in hers, her touch grounding and comforting. "I didn't realize it was this bad. You've never talked about this before. I knew you'd been through a lot, but... I didn't know it was like this."
Adele's eyes brimmed with tears, her voice breaking as she tried to find the words. "During my pregnancy, my ex-husband became a different person. He was aggressive and controlling. I felt trapped, like I had no escape. He didn't care about me or the baby. He only cared about his own desires."
She paused, her breath hitching as she continued. "He would push me to do things I wasn't comfortable with, even though I was pregnant. I was terrified for Anton and for myself. Every day was a battle, and I didn't know if I could protect him or even make it through safely."
Isy listened, her own heart breaking with each word Adele spoke. She could hardly imagine the depth of Adele's pain. "I'm so sorry, Adele. I can't even begin to understand how hard that must have been. To be so alone in that situation, carrying Anton—it must have been incredibly frightening."
Adele nodded, her sobs escaping as she leaned into Isy's embrace. "I felt so isolated. I thought that everyone knew because it was all over the news and online. I didn't want to bring it up because I assumed you'd already seen everything. I thought people only saw me through my past."
Isy shook her head slowly, her eyes full of compassion. "No, I didn't know the details. I always admired you for your strength, but I never searched for personal details about your past. I wanted to know you for who you are now, not just what's been written about you."
Adele's tears continued to flow, her relief mingling with the pain of reliving those memories. "I didn't realize that... I thought everyone judged me based on my past. It's hard to believe that someone would care about who I am now."
Isy wiped away Adele's tears with a tender touch, her voice gentle but firm. "You are so much more than your past, Love. Your strength, your courage—those are the things that have always inspired me. You deserve to be seen for who you are today, not just what happened before."
Adele looked at Isy, her gratitude evident. "Thank you for being here, for listening to me. I didn't realize how much I needed this—how much I needed someone to truly understand and care. I really love you so much"
Isy held Adele close, her own tears mingling with Adele's. "I love you too Love. You don't ever have to go through this alone. I'm here for you, every step of the way."
Adele rested her head against Isy's shoulder, feeling the warmth and safety in her embrace. For the first time in a long time, the weight of her past felt a bit lighter. In Isy's arms, she found a renewed sense of hope and the strength to believe in the possibility of healing.
They sat together in the darkness, holding each other tightly. The silence between them was filled with unspoken understanding and support. Adele felt a profound sense of relief knowing that she didn't have to carry her burden alone. With Isy's unwavering support, she began to believe that maybe, just maybe, she could start to heal and find peace.
After a while, Isy broke the silence, her voice soft but filled with determination. "If you ever want to talk about anything you still have in your heart what is haunting you, you can talk to me babe."
Adele nodded, her heart swelling with a mixture of hope and gratitude. "Thank you, my love. For everything. I feel like I've been carrying this weight for so long even tho I thought I'm over it and it means so much to have you who understands and supports me."
Isy smiled, gently stroking Adele's hair. "I'm here for you, always."
As the night continued, the two of them remained intertwined, finding solace in each other's presence. Adele knew that the she is finally safe and found her forever partner but it still would be challenging, but with Isy by her side, she felt a renewed sense of hope.
