Meant To Be ( A Chase x Skye Story)

Skye's treatment

It was the next day. I woke up earlier that usual so I could awake the others. Today is the day that I start Chase's treatment. I have a lot to do but everything is worth it because of him. I awoke every single one of them separately and Chase was the last one.
"Good morning Chase. It's time to get up you need to eat." "Just five more minutes Skye, please." he said in a weak voice "If you want to recover fast then please try to get up. I will help you." I said gently. I knew my soft words would get him. "Good boy. Now follow me slowly. Me and Ryder has something special just for you. I told Ryder to make some soup for him. Eating something warm and liquid instead of something hard would make his recovery faster. "Oh meat soup. Unusual for breakfast." "Well you have a cold and you need to get your strength back. It is the best for you. I will give you some water and I will accompany you." "Don't you want to go with the others?" "Nope I'm not leaving. I told you I would take care of you. Now eat slowly." he just smiled and started enjoying his soup. I secretly put more steak and liver there cause it's his favourite that's why he must enjoy it that much. "This is sooo good. Thank you for making this for me." "No need Chase. Ryder and I thought it would be the best for you as I said." I just observed the way he ate in case he needed something but seems like he didn't. "Okay, now let's take a walk around. You need to breathe some fresh air and you should also exercise a bit. Day by day you will feel better." "Oh come on now Skye. I'm tired" "I know Chase but I do this for you. You can lean on me whenever you feel tired and keep going whenever you feel ready." he nodded in agreement and so we did walk. He said that he is tired but we did walk around the lookout almost six times. "I think it is enough walking for today. If you keep up like this you will feel better no time!" "Yeah I guess so. Thanks." he smiled. Such a gentle smile. "Last thing before I leave you to rest is that you have to take a bath. And as you can understand I cannot help you with that." I said while blushing a little "I will tell Ryder. When I am done I will come back to you." and some minutes later he came back. "Looking better already. At least it is not that obvious that you are sick." I sarcastically said "Haha very funny Skye." I laughed I couldn't help it.
I was still by his side all day in any case he needed something or wanted anything. His eyes were swollen, he had some headaches but he managed to undergo everything. Night fell and I took him to his place. "Here, now rest. We will keep on that routine until you are in perfect condition like before." "Thank you Skye, I appreciate it." "No need Chase. Now go sleep. If you want something I am right beside you." I said, giving him a warm smile. Some minutes have passed and it was after midnight but I could hear noises from Chase's place. I went there slowly being worried that maybe something happened. When I faced him I realised he was having a nightmare. "No Skye, you will be alright stay with me!" "Skye don't leave me!" "Skye where are you!" he was talking on his own. That incident may have traumatised him. "Skye please don't leave me. You are the only one I have." I fell to the grass and tried to slowly reach him with my paw when I successfully touched his paw. He stopped talking but he couldn't understand his surroundings. He took my paw with his gently and put it on his lips. "There you are. Finally." "Chase?" no response. I wanted to make sure if he could understand what he was doing. "Skye. I think. I think I love you." he said in a sleepy yet tired voice while he was rubbing my paw. I was utterly shocked. I couldn't believe these words came out of his mouth. Is it real? Is he saying things because of his sleep talking? What is even happening?! I could feel my own heart beating like crazy! I was all red and warm inside out of embarrassment. I took my hand out of his slowly and he still was sleeping unaware of everything and anything around him. How can this heavy sleeper wake up this early in the morning?
I walked away slowly and went back to my place. I had to calm down. "Nothing happened, nothing happened. He was just sleep talking right? If he would feel anything he would confess. But yes he is totally blind." I said. But I took my paw that his hands had locked and put it on my lips. It was a sign of hope for me and my feelings. After all he didn't notice and didn't understand anything that happened.
