Chapter 23Arly's pov
With my car loaded with food stuff, I gave Carissa a sexy lopsided smile and drove out of the parking lot, leaving her to walk to the taxi stand. Like Celecia, she thinks I have a very large family supporting and didn't mind helping me out by paying for my groceries fortnightly. Getting a new sim card has solved the problem of them calling me when I was at home, I simply deactivated the number they knew. They won't leave me although I told them I have my personal woman and I love fucking them, afterall how much men are lucky to have not one but two women supporting them. The woman who usually keeps Arlem discontinued our fucking agreement as she wanted money and things from me instead of the other way around.
"Bright! She fi can pay fi di fuck wey she want." I murmur as I drive home.
I could smell the jerk chicken before I drove in through the gate and I smiled seeing Tiony's Dad and brother playing dominoes with Dad and André. I parked beside the truck and waved to them as I walked to where Mummy sat beside Ms. Dianne. Jevaughn came in through the back gate, followed by Mattic and his family, and I began to set out the chairs so that they could sit down. I asked Jevaughn to unload the things from my car inside my kitchen and hurry inside to grab a shower. Tiony was changing Artyon, and I carried him to Miss Dianne when I was done putting on my clothes.
Natty and the talibans came with domino tables and more chairs, and Mattic set up a drinks table for them. We played dominoes and had a good time eating and just living. "But Chupsy, yuh nuh look like yuh have nuh baby, girl." Miss Palsy told Chupsy when the Gregory Isaac playing over the speaker box ended.
Another song blasted through the speaker, and Tiony's response was lost to my ears. Chantelle, Chantae, and her sat together and chatted away from their parents, and it was late when we finally packed up and called it a night. Tyrone slept over by my sisters' house with André and Jevaughn, and Arlem slept with Tiony and Artyon, her parents slept in my sons' room and I slept on the carpeted floor in the living room with the air-conditioning on high. Most of us slept until late the following morning, but we all got up when the scent of hot chocolate and roasting breadfruits filled the atmosphere, and hunger got too much.
Tiony stood over the pot on the stove, stirring the ackee and saltfish, and I poured myself a cup of the rich chocolate tea and sat out back relaxing beside André, Jevaughn, and Tyrone. Mum helped to serve breakfast, and we all sat down out back in the coolshade and ate our bellies full. I went to check on the goats with Mister Troy. while Jevaughn attended to the chickens, and André got the duty of washing up. We then went through Daddy's farm to my weed grung and my farm beyond. The whole farm was now fenced around with iron posts and barb wires. Anyone who wanted to pass had to walk beyond it rather than through as they normally do. My excuse to Natty and the others was the goats I'm now raising as an investment.
"Gate dey pon dah side dey, but wi nuh really mek nuh body know cause wi nuh want dem a walk thru dey com inna mi yard." Daddy answered Mister Troy's query as to where Mr. Earl and his family had walked.
There was a different track that now led to Natty's weed grung, and only a few elderly farmers traverse these back lands to their farms further over into the bushes where my Dad also has a farm, but he hasn't been working over there that much since recently. We went there and cut some bunches of bananas, plantains, and jellies. We picked scotch bonnet peppers from off some pepper trees, dug some sweet potatoes and yams, and then carried them all home. We had a lovely family dinner in the early evening because our guests had to leave to cover their long journey home.
