Arly's list

3. Do everything that pertains to Arlem and I as you do for you and Arly because we're a family.

6. Kisses and telling each other goodnight and the same in the mornings.

I blinked and re-read Gibbanks' list, then I sighed and flung it to the room door. "If yuh caan abide by my list just nuh badda wid mi." I tell him the moment he came through the door.

"Tee, at least mek a few exceptions, because mi caan cook fi Arlem when mi dey a work." He tries to reasons.

"Same like how yuh find time fi duh everything else wey yuh nuffi a duh, find time fi duh wey yuh suppose to." I tell him and continued scrolling on my phone.

He didn't say anything more, and I was glad when he took Arlem over to his parents' house the following morning, just as Mommy came for Artyon. He came inside and stood watching me as I set up my desk to start my online work. "You're working online?" He asked in surprise.

"Long time. Yuh feel I've been sitting home every day waiting on the change you give me and fi yuh 'oman dem outta road feed mi?" I replied, then told him asking.

He was home early that evening and turned on the two bomboxes playing souls as if he were keeping a party or dance. He raked up the yard, swept, and cleaned away the debris that the hurricane had left in its wake. Four different pots were on the stove that evening with two separate sets of meals, and I decided not to cook the following day as Artyon and I couldn't eat off all that I had cooked and I didn't feel like eating the same thing everyday. By the end of the week, I didn't know how to avoid him and Arlem because they both seemed to be working against me, with Arlem coming to stay with Artyon inside my room and him looking for something inside the room for more than an hour every evening all of a sudden.

My gift to him was a paper plane named AVOID THE BEDROOM, while his gift to me was a box of chocolates with a note mark, I'M BEGGING A GOODNIGHT KISS. "I'm not obliging you." I tell him seriously, although we were both laughing as he kept throwing the plane to fly into the room.

"Arlem, don't guh fi it again baby." I tell Arlem, who was happy to run for the paper plane each time he sent it flying inside the room.

Gibbanks went away to check on his weed farm, and I bathed the boys and sat in the living room talking with Mommy, who came to see what I got for my present. "Mi would a oblige him the good night kiss, but mi nah let him offa di hook too easy. You're too nice for him to be cheating on you." Mommy says, and I totally agreed with her advice.
