Chapter 34Tiony's pov
"Bredda mi a tell yuh sey a di first mi ever experience somn like dis ina mi life and mi a mek certain sey mi go a church dis mawnin." Gibbanks told Natty what he has repeated for what must be the hundredth time since after twelve that morning when he woke up just about everyone.
I yawned and lay stretched out like a bengalese cat on the couch, whilst his mother prayed out the house. "Dis strange, how dead foul and dead frog reach ina di house and di door dem lock up?! My youth betta, yuh, check a obeah man still ino dawg, cause dis nuh look good at all. Right now, a bare goose bump all dey pon mi body all yuh a talk." Selector says while Miss Beverly chants.
"Blood of Jesus, blood of Jesus. Cut and clear all evil, Lord."
Gibbanks took Arlem and Artyon over to his mother's house after they came back from church, and I told him I wasn't going with him over there. An ugly bruise was formed where he had hit up into the kitchen counter, and I was sorry that he hadn't hit his hood instead. He said the pastor told them that he had picked up a blow and he would come with a few prayer warriors to pray out the house. He took the majority of his clothes and things over to his mother's house and complained to my parents that I didn't believe him, because his father had came and took out the dead animals before I had seen them and the disturbing things he had seen inside the refrigerator had disappeared.
Tyrone and Mommy came over bringing dinner for me, and we rolled with laughter as they both recalled Gibbanks' behavior and the talks of those who fully believed that it was an act of unseen forces. "Mi sey all him a rewind camera mi just a look pon him, tsk, mi lock it off from before mi come outta di room because mi know him a guh go ina di fridge." I tell them.
"Gibbanks a guh kill yuh when him find out sey you and him Fada mek him affi run outta him own house." Tyrone says laughing.
"Chupsy?!" Chantelle called from out at the gate.
I got up and went out on the verandah seeing her, Chantae, and Steffon. "Hello Miss, mi nah come over dhere ino." Steffon says aloud.
"Yuh can come mon, a man wey cheat affi run out yah like ten battyman waan fuck him." I stated aloud and heard André begin to laugh from over his sisters' house.
They both started laughing and came into the yard. Tyrone left, and Chantelle, Steffon, Chantae, Mommy, and I sat chatting and laughing about what I did to Gibbanks on the verandah. "Den Missa Audley him good eeh, him all go a church wid dem and nuh sey nutn. What a man dangerous." Steffon says.
"Mi sey a gon put up a big red cross pon di gate when di pastor and him prayer warrior dem a come, and right out dey suh mi a stand up and gi him and dem it. Cause wey him fi si him nuh si fi tell him." I told them, and we laughed as they agreed with me.
I slept very comfortably throughout the night after watching the weather report. Gibbanks came over the next morning, making sure everything was secure as the strong winds began to blow. "Good morning." He greets me.
"Tsk. Si di room door open dey fi yuh guh tek out yuh rest a things dem." I hissed and told him.
"Seems like yuh glad fi me move out." He says.
"Very. I hope di pastor tell yuh fi build or buy a house far away from here." I tell him and went to the kitchen where I set on the kettle with water to boil for tea.
After a few minutes, he came to stand inside the kitchen while I sweetened my tea, then sat on one of the high counter chairs, sipping it without a glance at him. He went away and came back a short while later while I was peacefully enjoying my turkey ham sandwich with a whole green skin pear and sipping my fruit drink out of my new straw cup. He began searching down the kitchen, and my joy was cut short when he found the glass bottles with the crafted dough hands and fingers. He shouted, calling André and his father, and I hissed and chucked the empty plate into the sink before marching off to my room and banging the door shut.
