Chapter Two: Death

•Adonis•

I held the glass of white wine as I took a sip of the wine, trying to process all that have just happened. Having my father and older brother die in the period of two years.

This is so disturbing. It may seem normal to mother,grandma and Ava, also other people but it doesn't seem to me.

Still lost in my thoughts, as the elevator ding snapping me out of my thoughts. I dropped the glass on the kitchen island as I strolled out of the kitchen, going into the living room area. The retreating figure of Ava walking towards me, made me roll my eyes.

"Ni shénme shihou hui xue hui you yi dian li mao, bing jiu bu zai pao jin wo de dian shi gong yuan le" I complained as she plopped down on a chair.

{Translation: When would you learn to have a little courtesy and learn to stop barging into my penthouse}

Crossing her right leg over her left one as she replied, "Cong bu, xiãnsheng" I clicked my tongue, getting annoyed on how comfortable she had gotten on dropping by my house unannounced.

{Translation: Never, Brother}

"Who let you in?" I asked curtly, already filled with annoyance. I bought this penthouse for privacy and that is to be respected.

She propped her brows at me, looking at me in disbelief. "Adonis, don't tell me that you've forgotten that father's burial ceremony is today."

Fuck!

I rolled my tongue inside of my cheek as I cursed at myself for forgetting about the burial when I was just thinking about him ten damn minutes ago!

"I'd be all dressed up if you haven't appeared here all of a sudden" I replied flatly. My eyes scanned around the living room for the bodyguard I had hired for her but he wasn't even here.

"Where's your bodyguard, Ava?" I queried.

"You mean Luke?" She corrected making me hiss in anger. "I don't fucking care about his name, I'm asking where the fuck he is" I said sternly.

"Take a chill pill, man" She joked. "Since you are all serious about your privacy thingy...." She said coating ears. "I saw it wasn't a good idea to bring him up here"

Convincing. I nodded at her statement before she continued to speak. "And I may or may not have come here all alone by myself." She fidgeted with her fingers.

My eyes widened before I glared at her. "What the fuck, Ava? I hired the bodyguard for just one thing. To fucking guard you!" I yelled.

"But I decided to just give him the day off" She murmured to herself but I heard.

"We're going to the church together!" I demanded. "And If you give your bodyguard any day off again, I'd be forced to hire an army to follow you around"

Her neck snapped as she looked at me before scoffing. "You wouldn't do that"

"Try me" I stood on my feet, strolling up the stairs to my room to get ready for the ceremony.
