Chapter 12: Partner

•Adonis•

Halting my car in available space of the parking lot before climbing out of the car. The only thing grandma could have used to.make come over to my father's place was because of father's lawyer that was present.

Not that I cared less for my family and I don't wanna see them but the family's business is on me now. They're looking up to me, since the death of father has left me as the new CEO. Not yet tho, until the lawyer reads out the will but I am next in line to the company. So that leaves me to be super attentive to the family business than I've ever been in my whole entire life. I have to become more serious about the company's safety and my family's.

Especially my family, that's why I had ordered bodyguards for them to look after them twenty four seven. Father's death following immediately after Alex's death had caused me to be more suspicious than ever and I was gonna to hunt down the person who did it.

Not until I find enough evidence tho but my guts keeps pointing accusing fingers to Koxs family. And my guts has never been wrong.

The front door flung open, revealing Ava as her facial expression changed from a bored looking one to a grinning one now.

"Brother" She squealed hugging me but my hands remained by my side, feeling uninterested to return the gesture. She pulled away, looking up to me with a pout on her face.

"You could have hugged me back" She complained letting me into the house. I stopped abruptly at the door as my eyes scanned the room.

"Where's your bodyguard?" I asked instead of giving a reply to her previous complain.

She looked at me in disbelief before letting out a scoff.

"Why do I need Luke? I was coming to get the door" She replied.

"That's why you needed him"

"To get the door?" She raised a brow at me, crossing her arms across her chest.

I held my hand behind me, walking towards the living room area as she trailed behind me. "Yes" I replied, my gaze not meeting hers.

"Adonis? I don't need a bodyguard to guard me to come get the door for you! I'm at my father's house. What's the worst that could happen?" She asked, mock evident in her tone.

I came to a halt, turning to glance at her briefly before resuming my walk. "Ava, you could.have gotten shot in the head" I disdained, my patience already wearing thin.

Of course, my patience would wear thin. I have been getting riled up easily by what everybody does that I don't even come to recognize myself.

"But I didn't" She taunted, making me roll my tongue inside of my cheek resisting an eye roll. "You need to stop been so overprotective over me Adonis. Nothing can happen to me okay?" She tapped my shoulder walking towards the dining.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"To the dining room" She replied.

"We're discussing about the will over lunch?" I mused.

"Lunner" She corrected. "It's four in the evening and it's grandma's order" She disappeared into the dining area.

I shook my head, letting out a soft yet short laughter at her word 'Lunner". Ava been Ava, joining the word Lunch with Dinner.
