Chapter Fourteen: Nightmare

•Sabrina•

I sat in my office, enjoying the morning quietness as I scrolled through the computer for the available online classes for law students.

Leaving America and coming to work in a multibillion dollar company in England isn't gonna stop me from working as a lawyer. Nothing is gonna stop me from learning the basic things and becoming a lawyer by the end of the day.

I have always wanted to be a lawyer, since I lost my father because I felt that the more law related courses I study the more I get closer to him, figuratively tho.

A soft knock landed on my door, drifting my attention from the screen of the system to the person standing in front of my office door.

"Hey" Tammy greeted alongside with a short wave. I forced a tight smile on my face as I replied.

"Hi"

"What're you doing?" She moved away from the doorframe, strolling into my office.

She stopped beside me, looking at the screen. My heart pumped hard behind my chest thinking she'd nag at me because what I was doing was really not work appropriate.

"You're a law student?" She asked, surprise evident in her tone.

"Was" I corrected. "I was studying law at Kistal College before I came to London" I said skipping the part where I got expelled.

I mean it's not like I was lying or sum but I really don't need to speak to her about my expulsion. We aren't even close, just co-workers.

"Hmm. You were studying in one of the most prestigious schools back in the states and you came to England?" She asked, pointedly.

"I... You know wanted to meet with my aunt. I missed her" I half lied with a shrug as she eyed me.

"Do you want to keep studying law back here or you'd keep working here?" She asked.

"I haven't really come to conclusion but I'm thinking of signing up for some online class hosted by the some law schools in America" I replied, a matter of fact.

She hummed in response, switching from friendly to professional in a nanosecond. "About the hall you went with Mr Huang to check yesterday. How was it? I want to hear your own opinion as his own personal assistant." She said.

I took in a deep breath, trying to bring together the pieces of words that was lurking in my head. I mean, when we went to the event center yesterday. I was definitely not there because of the presence of no other person than Ben Rogers.

"Uhmm, I'd say the hall was nice. I mean the wideness and all. I'd dim it feet for the event" I explained.

"Hmm" She fell into thoughts and that let us fall into a very awkward silence.

"I want you to.... " She paused for a while before she continued to talk again. "Are you free?" She asked.

"As of now yes I am" I replied.

"Great" She said tapping the table. "We haven't gone into the finding models for the show yet so you're gonna help me with the hunt, is that okay by you?" She asked.

"Yeah, " I replied with a shrug. I mean I'd love to work with Tammy even if it's just for some hours.

"Cool, so there are some files I'd want to hand over to you and Adonis must sign them as an approval before we proceed anything. We're gonna need the help of someone tho" She said.

We left my office to hers, as she handed me the files she had claimed she'd hand over to me and I left for Adonis's office. I knocked on the door, waiting for an answer as I shifted my weight from leg to leg.

The door flung open revealing a tired Jaxon. A smile crawled to my face on seeing him.

"You look exhausted" I stated the obvious making him roll his eyes.

"Souris, I don't have time for your peckers and we're at your place of work." He replied dryly leaving the door wide open as he walked away.

I pouted as his attitude but shook my head, taking the look away from my face clenching the files to my chest as I walked into the room closing the door behind me.

"Mr Huang" I greeted Adonis who sat on the sofa across the room.

He shot his head up staring at me with a blank expression.

Standing in the room with three grown men, I know I was meant to feel safe and less nervous but with his previous attitude, I fell super nervous.

"I've come to drop some files for you to sign" I said still standing in the same spot.

"Bring it over here" He said, as I moved towards him. He grabbed the files from, browsing through them before he brought out a pen to sign on them.

"Sabrina right?" The person whom I recognized to be Levi, one of Jaxon's friend called my name.

"Yes" I replied.

His lips curved up into a smirk as Adonis's eyes narrowed at him. "What the fuck is making you smirk, Levi?" Adonis barked, feeling irritated.

I'm sure they're all in a very bad mood today.

"She's the little Sabrina right?" Levi asked Jaxon instead of answering Adonis.

"If by little Sabrina you mean my little cousin sister then yes she is" Jaxon replied dryly, with his eyes fitted on the floor.

During dinner yesterday, Aunt Mariah had brought up the topic of Adonis getting married and all. He had told them he doesn't have his eyes on any girl but Aunt Mariah had said she had set up a date for him with one of her friend's daughter.

So cliché right? I know.

"Perfect!" Levi's exclamation brought me out of my thoughts, taking my attention to him as I assessed his face with the smug grin on his face.

"What's perfect?" I asked, timidly.

"You're perfect for the job Sabrina" He said making me more confused.

"What job?" I asked.

Adonis sent glares his way but he ignored it deciding to go on with whatever he has to say. "You've known Adonis since when he was little. You're Jaxon's Cousin sister and His mother loved you when we were kids" Levi said. "Look Sabrina, you would just act as Adonis's wife for a while and when I say a while, I mean a year and then y'all divorce." He added.

What the fuck was happening? Staring at them one after the other because I was to stunned to formulate any reply in my head.

"Levi" Adonis warned through gritted teeth making Levi raise his hand in surrender.

"I mean she's the only option, our best option by that" Levy argued..

"Or if you wanna go with Skye it's fine atleast she's my younger sister too" Jaxon backed him up.

Adonis's nostrils flared from how hardly he was breathing. "There's no way I'd pick Skye" He said, sternly.

"Then You've gotta go with Sabrina." Levi said.

Looks like I couldn't breathe, this isn't happening.

"Sabrina what do you say?" Levi turned to me. I looked around, feeling as if I was in a confide space as I found it hard to breathe.

I grabbed the files of paper from Adonis. "I've got to think about this" I said, walking out of the office.

This can't be happening. What do they mean I'm perfect for the job.
