Chapter Seventeen: Wife
•Sabrina•
I sat in the deafening silence feeling all uncomfortable and nervous at the same time as I chewed on my nails aggressively. It's been twenty minutes since Adonis has called Levi and he hasn't still arrived.
"I suppose I should go stay in my office till he arrives, sir" I said breaking the silence as I tried adjusting my position on the chair.
Adonis's head snapped up looking at me before he spoke. "Ms Rhodes, you don't have to leave and by the way he is going to be here in a minute"
I took in a sigh of disappointment concerning what he replied me with. "It's of no use of me staying here" I pushed making him groan in anger.
"It's of no use?" He snapped. "I told you to stay here till he arrives and you're saying it's of no use? What......"
The door swung open, cutting him off abruptly. Levi strolled into the room before coming to a halt when his eyes landed on me.
"Am I interrupting something?" He teased, putting emphasis on the word something. Adonis rolled his eyes.
"Shut the hell up and common in" Adonis disdained, as Levi shut the door behind him making his way to the other seat across Adonis's desk.
"That's no way to speak to your attorney Mr Huang" Levi mocked. His eyes landed on me for the second time today as he forced a smile to his face.
"Sabrina" He greeted. "Mr Carson" I replied with a slight bow making him chuckle.
"Look, don't call me that okay? I've known you since we were kids and you're trying to be formal? Nah, I'd pass" He said making me smile.
And yeah, Levi has always been the one with the cracks and pranks. I'm not even surprised that he has corrected me not to call him Mr Carson unlike Mr Huang here.
"Let's get this over with" Adonis said, hitting his hand on the table getting my attention. "Is the contract ready?"
Levi grabbed his bag, tossed it on the desk as he ransacked it in search of whatever contract he has created. He tossed the contract on the table looking between Adonis and I.
"Look this contract contains all of the details and conditions you had sent to me earlier, Adonis. Everything, even Sabrina's favor" He explained making me sigh in relieve.
"With my favor?" I asked wanting to be sure as Levi nodded. I grabbed a pen from Adonis's table, signing my name where I was supposed to sign.
I dropped the pen, facing up I found four eyes staring at me.
"What? Did I do anything wrong?" I asked feeling uncomfortable of the stares I was getting.
"You didn't read what was written on the contract" Adonis said with a matter of fact. I bit my lower lip in attempt of resisting an eye roll.
"Levi had explained all of what was there so what's the need?"
"You could have read it" Adonis replied flatly making me roll my eyes.
"Enough of this bickering and sign Adonis. She trusts that the contract is intact and she signed. So stop wasting our.. my time and sign off" Levi said making Adonis roll his eyes.
He grabbed the same pen I used alongside with the paper as his eyes scrolled throughout every lines and words on the page as he read.
He dropped the paper on the desk, signing off before tossing the paper over to Levi. The paper landed on Levi's chest and that made him glare at Adonis.
"So that's done now. The next thing to plan is the wedding ceremony" My eyes widened like it was going to fall out of it's socket as those words left Levi's mouth.
"I'm sorry what?" I asked blinking continuously.
"The wedding ceremony" He repeated looking at me as if I had grown horns or something. What does he mean wedding ceremony.
"Whose getting married" I asked with shaky voice making Adonis hiss out in anger.
"And this is why you should have read the contract" He growled.
I looked between them, trying to see who cracks up first and be like hey, it's a prank sabrina but none of them even smiled.
"Sabrina, I'm pretty sure I told you that very day you came into his office that you're going be his wife for a year or so and y'all would divorce" Levi said, becoming frustrated already.
I stared at him in silence trying to remember all of the things he has said that day. Realization slapped me in the face when I remembered him saying wife and I've been thinking of girlfriend.
"There's no going back on this matter Sabrina. You've signed the contract now" Levi said.
I stared into the blank space thinking of what to be my next move. Oh for Christ's sake. I really wished Larson didn't become a dickhead and released some nasty video online and I really needed Adonis to help me with that..
"I'm in" I said breaking the silence.
"You're always in Ms Rhodes. You've signed the contract" Adonis replied, curtly.
Levi gave me a half hearted smile, tossing the contract back to Adonis as he stood on his feet, grabbing his bag. "My work here is done, and I've gotta go back to work" He said leaving the office leaving Adonis and I alone in the office again.
"I'm gonna go to my office and work on the invitations" I said standing up and leaving the office before he could even talk.
This is gonna be.....
I don't even have the right word for this current situation.
Christ help.me.
