The dead of me was near. Not like my breath stopping from my lungs and halting my heart to pump the blood. I would be dead by the contentment, the dead of my control.
I step down from the Sangeet stage, putting back by bare feets on the surface to hold still as if the land beneath me will slide away. I again dropped my gaze back to the hand on the phone.
My eyes looked around analysing the surrounding, the venue was crowded and the loud base of dj was swinging everyone on the beats. I took my chance and slipped out of the crowded venue, weaving through the thong of people, unnoticed as I made my quite escape.
I cot a quick glare at Ishan and Alia who were lost in the moment. The sight tugged at me heartstrings, filling me with guilt. Taking a deep breath I slipped out of the venue.
My phone tucked away in my hand buzzed with a quick urgency. I hesitated picking up, but it won't go silence. Once I step outside the stillness of the night wrapped around me.
I took a moment to steady myself before pulling out the phone, catching my breath as I saw the caller ID Jiya my assistant. I answered the call my voice tinged with anticipation. "What happened Jiya?"
In back of my mind I knew something good has happened, but I only wished it is what I think. "Eira it's happening." Jiya's voice crackled with excitement. "The board just approved you design, they want you in Paris in two days."
My breath hitched, the words finally sinking in, I have spent month's working on his this, pouring my heart and soul into the project and now the moment had arrived. "In two days?"
The voice echoed barely above the whispered, "Yes.." Jiya confirmed in excitement. "They are coordinating all the details, flights, accommodation, meeting. It's all coming together, but they need you there overseas for some final steps."
My mind raced, this was everything I dreamed of, an opportunity that could elevate my career to new heights. Yet the thought of leaving my family at such pivotal moment was wrenching.
"I'm in." I replied, my voice trembling. The thoughts were spinning it was lot to sink in. "Eira this is your chance, they trust your vision, they need you there." I nodded. I know what I have been working on and this is my time.
There is nothing holding me back now. "I finalize the itinerary and send it to you toning, get yourself ready." Jiya responded. "Thanks Jiya. I said already getting my mind ready.
As the call ended, I let out a deep sign, "Let's get it working." I reminded myself, but soon realised that I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow, I still need to tell my parents about this sudden trip. I was sure they won't appose it, but the conversation is not going to be easier.
Getting myself together, I walked back into the venue, the celebration continued, laughter and music filling the ait. My parents where seated in the front with Alia's family on their side. They where enjoying every moment.
