Chapter 10: I don't trust nobody, and nobody trust me...

Once Kai leaves out to let off some steam, I decided to shower and go pay an old friend a visit. I figure, since they were so gracious to come to my home and just barge in making demands, I should definitely return the favor.

When I arrive at the Tower, it's a little after 7pm. So figure they all should be home. when I walk in, the woman at the front desk waves at me. a little confused, I just wave back and smile. I get on to the elevator that's strictly reserved for the avengers, still no one stops me.

I place my thumb for the avengers floor, the button glows showing it is scanning my thumb print. I'm expecting this is where it ends and I will be denied and forced to break in. but to my surprise, the elevator doors close and Jarvis says, "welcome back Cali."

Frozen, I just say, "Uh. Thank you, Jarvis. Is the team home?" Jarvis tells me no. I smile and decide to whip up a surprise for when they return.

1 hour later, I'm taking the 1st batch of brownies out the oven when the elevator dings. Immediately the entire team freezes. No one moves from the elevator, shocked to see me in a bright yellow apron with daisies all over it. "hi!"

Once they see my wide bright smile and the fact that I'm wearing oven mitts to match my apron. They begin to file out and that when I realize, there a few originals missing, but I see another newbie.

They all spread out, getting into a subtle fighting stance. I lift the pan for them to see, "I made brownies. Don't be shy, come on over here and help yourself."

Still no one says anything. they just look from each other then to me as I cut the brownies into squares, with their owns hands close to their weapons. "I just thought I would drop by. Say hi. Introduce myself properly to your new team here."

Once I'm done cutting the brownies I look up and say, "how's the wife and kids clint?"

He chuckles nervously, but he smiles and he's pleasant. "Great. Just took them on vacation. Disney world."

"That's good. Family is important. please tell Laura, I said hi." Then I turn my gaze on Bucky. "Hi Bucky." I coo at him as I lean on my elbows on the counter. "miss me?"

That's when I take in Steve and Bucky who are covered in soot. Then I take a look at all of them, Tony, Nat, and a new girl in purple. They must've had to call for backup to take care of my little friends. Feeling sort of bad I say, "I'm sorry about earlier. You caught us at a bad time. you know how couples can be when you've been together for so long and the honeymoon phase ends and..."

Tony cuts me off, "Please spare us. what are you doing here?"

Steve asks, "how did you get in?"

Nat asks, "where have you been?"

I roll my eyes and walk from behind the counter, and they all take a step back. I chuckle as I raise my hands up in surrender and sit on one of the stool. I cross my legs and say, "Great questions. All valid. But that's not why I'm here."

"then why are you here?" Tony asks, "because this is breaking and entering."

"for one, I didn't break anything. I simply walked in. you forgot to remove my access. Thats not like you tony."

Steve sighs and says, "Goddamit tony."

Tony sighs and says, "okay fine. why...are ...you ....here?" he walks over to the bar a little more relaxed than the rest. Pours himself a drink and pours me one too. he hands it to me, and I set it on the counter and ask, "Where is Wanda?"

"No. leave her alone." Tony says.

You are so dramatic." I look at the other new girl. and ask, "What's your name?"
