6 years later

I roll over and groan. The sun is bright and blinding me even though I haven't opened my eyes yet. I roll away from the window and I try to block out the sun. I know I should get up, but I cant. I'm exhausted. Loki and I snuck out the palace last night and went down to the river. He has been secretly teaching me magic. Whatever Frigga teaches him, he has been teaching me. we were up till 3 this morning making fireworks. I roll over again and put my pillow over my face and groan out when I hear banging on my door.

"Wake up child!" I hear one of the maids yell through the door.

She continues to bang, and I throw the blanket over my head. I hear the maid yell, "You must make haste! Your late for your lessons!"

I groan as I throw the blanket off of me and dramatically kick it on the floor. when I sit up, that when I notice it. its happened again and I begin to panic. I roll off the bed and run to the mirror and see there are small scorch marks on my nightgown. I walk over to the bed and see there are several burnt spots on the bed. I begin to panic because if word gets out, Odin will have me killed just like my mother. I take a few deep breathes. The banging from the maid isn't helping so, I walk over to the door and open it just a crack so that she can see I am wide awake. "I will be ready in a minute." I say this a calmly as I can. She give me a look that says, doubtful. I roll my eyes and slam my door shut and Once I'm able to get my hands to stop shaking I tear my sheets off the bed and take off my night gown and shove them far back in my closet until I can get them to the incinerator.

I wash up and put on a powder blue dress. I don't have time to do much with my elbow length hair, so I leave it down. I slip on my shoes and run to meet the instructor. When I arrive, Sif and fandral waves for me to sit with them. Loki watches me until I take my seat. Fandral leans towards me and says, "late again I see."

Sif elbows him and says, "Leave her alone."

"I overslept." I tell them as I try to look like I've been here all along. When the instructor walks in, he stops and glares at me before saying, "Nice of you to finally join us, Calida."

I groan as I look over at Loki. Everyone sits 3 to a table. Thor is sitting with Hogun and Volstagg. Loki always sits alone. I try to encourage him to talk to other people besides me, but he refuses. When he turns to look at me, I smile and wave. He never acknowledges me in public. He just turns back toward the instructor and continue to ignore us.

When class is over, I stay behind and stall to wait for Loki, but when I look up, he's already gone. I roll my eyes and sigh. I have to wonder sometimes who is the 13-year-old girl, me, or him. "do not dawdle. Just because I don't fuss at you about being late to our lessons, does not mean, the queen will just as lenient." I smile as I grab my things, lift my dress, and run to get to the healers ward on the other side of the palace.

"Calida! A lady does not run!" I hear someone say as I continue to run through the palace.

"A lady does not raise their skirts, Calida!" I hear someone else say. I huff and roll my eyes as I raise my dress higher hoping it will make me faster.

I hear a whistle from a group of boys as I turn a corner and one of them says, "Nice legs."

I turn to give them the finger and when I turn back around, I slam into a hard body and fall backwards onto the floor landing on my ass. "Watch where your goi..."

"That behavior will not be tolerated." Odin is staring down at me with disgust written all over his face.

I scramble to my feet and straighten my dress and I bow, "Allfather. Please forgive me. I did not see." I stay bowed until he releases me. but I know he won't. He never does. I cant tell how angry he is because I'm stuck looking at his feet in this position. But he wears the same facial expression when I'm around. disgust. Breathing hard and trying not to whimper. My ass aches from the fall and now I'm bowed down on one knee, impatiently waiting for him to tell me I can go.
