*Arin POV*
I was frustrated. I could feel burning hot rage gnawing inside of me. The reason for it?
During my trainee years, I was trained with a lot of rap skills and now that we've debuted, I haven't been given many chances to display it.
Yesterday I wanted to listen to how our songs came out, so I opened our YouTube account and listened to the album. And as I heard further, I realized that my solo raps weren't included in the songs. I remember recording my solo raps but why were they not included in the songs?
Sejin hyung told me that for the title track, my solo raps wouldn't be included. I'd agreed to that hesitantly. But this? The only time I rapped in the album's other songs was with Namjoon. The rest of the time, I was either singing or vocalizing.
Were my rapping abilities getting overlooked? Surely I remember Sejin hyung telling me before the debut that I was the only one who was a part of both the rap and the vocal lines. What had happened to that?
I pushed away my thoughts as I got out of my shared studio and started walking toward the other shared studio. When I reached the door, I barged inside without knocking. I found Yoongi working on something inside.
"Hyung, we need to talk," I said, my voice laced with a mix of anger and disappointment. My solo rap verses, hours of hard work poured into them, had been left on the room floor. The injustice of this stung me.
Yoongi paused, his eyes narrowing as he looked at me. He was unfazed by my outburst and continued to work on his music. His fingers danced across the keyboard, creating a rhythmic pattern.
He probably guessed what I wanted to talk about and replied coldly, his voice barely audible over the loud music, "If you want to be heard, get better."
I felt another wave of fury. I had poured my heart and soul into those verses, only to be dismissed so casually. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I willed them to not fall. I refused to let him see my weakness.
"Fine," I spat, my voice trembling slightly. "I'll show you what I can do." With that, I stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me.
As I walked, I made a mental note to get back at Yoongi by composing my finest rap song. I then reached a practice room where I found Hoseok dancing.
Right now, I needed someone to talk to, someone who would understand my disappointment and answer my questions. Hoseok was always the one to lift my spirits, and I hoped he could offer my broken heart some comfort.
His dance moves were interrupted by my presence. "Hey Lulu, what's up?" he asked, coming closer to me, his smile fading as he noticed my glossy eyes.
He pulled up two chairs and motioned for me to sit down. "Hey, what's wrong? Talk to me," he asked gently, his voice filled with concern. I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself before speaking. My voice trembled as I poured out my frustration.
"I worked so hard on those rap verses, Hobi. I thought they were good. But they just...disappeared. I listened to our B-sides on YouTube yesterday. My solo rap verses w-weren't there." Tears started to stream down my face, my voice breaking.
Hoseok pulled me into a comforting hug. "Hey, it's okay," he soothed, patting my back gently. "I know this is tough, but we'll figure something out. You're incredibly talented, Lulu. Don't let this get you down."
His face softened as he saw my distress. "Hey, it's not you," he began, his voice gentle. "It's the overall concept. Bang PD thinks that having a female rapper might not fit the image we're trying to portray right now."
He paused, giving me a moment to process the information. "I know it's tough to hear, but it's not about your talent. It's about the direction the company wants to take."
I felt a mix of anger and disappointment. My hard work seemed to have been for nothing. But I also understood the business side of things. The K-pop industry was tough, and sacrifices had to be made.
I looked up at Hoseok and asked, my voice cracking, "A...Am I even good at rapping Hobi? Yoongi hyung told me tha...that I should get better if want to be heard. Maybe he's right." I scoffed and said, "What was I even thinking? How could a girl rap? Obviously, the audience doesn't like that."
Hoseok's eyes softened as he looked at me, my words cutting through his optimism. He reached out and took my hands in his, offering a reassuring smile. "Hey, don't let hyung's words get to you. He doesn't know how to talk to people," he said gently. "You have an amazing voice, and your rap style is unique. We just need to find the right opportunity to showcase it."
He paused, considering his next words carefully. "Maybe we can work on a mixtape together, something just for us. We can experiment with different styles and see what clicks." A hopeful glint appeared in his eyes. "What do you think?"
I grinned at him and exclaimed, "Really? You would do that for me?" I hugged him tightly and said, "Thank you so much Hobi. You're the best person in the world."
Hoseok chuckled, "Don't let Jin hyung hear you. Or else, he'll pester me endlessly." He ruffled my hair playfully, trying to lighten the mood. "Now, let's focus on getting you back in your studio and making some fire verses. C'mon."
A/N: Heyy guys. I'm back with an update. Ik I usually update 2 times in a day, one in the morning n one in the evening. But I got disheartened because I literally have very less comments and votes, and that's the reason why I didn't feel like writing. Ahh but here I am.
So our poor girl, Arin's solo rap lines got cut from the song. Very sad. But her time will come in the future, don't worry. Okay I babbled too much. Stay healthy and stay tuned. Byee.
EDIT: Just corrected the studio arrangements and the dialogues a bit.
