October 2, 2013

The noon air was crisp as fans gathered outside the venue, their excitement palpable.

Arin was seated alongside her bandmates, a mix of anticipation and nervousness coursing through her. As the fans approached, she couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging and gratitude.

The members started introducing themselves one by one and when it was Arin's turn to greet fans, she was met with quieter cheers. She smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes.

As the fansign progressed, Arin experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. While many fans were kind and supportive, there were also fans who were rude and insensitive, while some even skipped her.

A girl in her 20s now stood in front of Arin, waiting for the female member to sign her album. Arin looked up to the girl and smiled brightly.

The girl frowned. Arin was taken aback by this reaction, so she spoke up, "Hi ARMY! What's your name?" The girl, still frowning, mumbled her name in response. Arin, awkward by the unexpected coldness, tried to strike up a conversation.

"That's a nice name! Umm... h-how did you feel meeting the b-boys?" she asked, stuttering, her smile fading slightly. The girl shrugged, a slight smile tugging on her lips. Arin felt a pang of disappointment. This fan was one of those. The kind who only supported the boys.

As Arin signed the album, her heart sank even more as the girl started venting her frustration at the female member. "Why are you even in this group? You're just an unnecessary bitch. The boys don't need you, and neither do we," she spat, her words laced with venom.

The piercing words hit hard at Arin's heart. "S-Sorry?" she asked, her voice dropping slightly. The girl continued her rant, her words a storm of insults and accusations. Arin tried to keep a positive frontier, but it was difficult not to be affected by the girl's negativity.

As Arin handed the girl her now-signed album back, the girl scoffed, "You're lucky they let you join. You're nothing special. You're just an attention seeker who enjoys being the only girl in this group."

Arin watched as the girl walked away harshly, her words echoing in her ears. A wave of sadness washed over her. She had experienced harsh criticism from fans before too but it still put her off. At this point, she wished that fans would rather skip her than stopping to curse at her.

Arin, exhausted, returned to the dorm's living room after washing up in the bathroom. She reached out to Seokjin, her best friend, knowing he would offer her a listening ear.

"O-Oppa," she began, her voice barely a whisper. "Should I l-leave the group?" Seokjin was taken aback by her question. He had never seen Arin so down. "Why would you think that?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. "You're an important part of this group, Arin."

Arin hesitated, her eyes filled with tears. "I don't know," she admitted. "I feel like I'm holding everyone back. You guys don't...n-need me. Afterall I'm just an a-attention seeker and a b-bitch. You all would probably be better off without m-me."

Seokjin's heart ached at the sight of Arin's distress. He knew she was going through a tough time, but he refused to let her doubt herself.

"That's not true," he said firmly, his voice filled with conviction. "You're an incredibly talented and hardworking member of this group. And what do you mean by 'you guys don't need me'? Of course, we need you. You're a down-to-earth person and you know we love that about you. And if fans hate you and love the other members, then they don't have the right to call themselves an ARMY. Don't let a few negative comments get to you."

He paused, taking a moment to choose his words carefully. "Remember, everyone goes through tough times. But it's how we respond to those challenges that define us. You're stronger than you think, Rin-ah."

Seokjin's words offered Arin a glimmer of hope. He was right. She was being too hard on herself. After all, she had come this far. She wouldn't give up now. With renewed determination, Arin wiped away her tears and looked Seokjin in the eye. "You're right," she said, her voice filled with resolve. "I won't let them get to me."

Seokjin smiled. "That's my girl," he said, a sense of relief washing over him. He knew that Arin would overcome this challenge, just as she had overcome countless others.

As the night wore on, Arin found herself feeling more hopeful. The support of her bandmates had given her the strength she needed to persevere. She was determined to prove to the world, that she belonged in BTS, alongside these 7 boys, whom she called her family.
