5. Chasing wild hearts

Goob was feeling unwell, so we went back up with the elevator. I panicked when i heard the other Toons' plan:

"We'll lie that the elevator broke!"

"Who will tell Dandy?"

I zoned out for a bit, but then a Toon called for me.

"Astro, you tell Dandy the elevator broke. Good luck, you got it!"

I remained still as all the other Toons walked away. I should've just hid away...
They think my relationship with Dandy is great, so they can just leave anything related to him on me!
I shivered even harder when i saw Dandy conveniently walking into the hallway.

"Why are you back already?"

"Elevator broke! 100%!"

"I'll see about that..." Said Dandy before walking off and trying the elevator.

This will be the end of me...

"Wow. It really is broken. Huh." Said Dandy, looking at me suspiciously.

We made eye contact again... He wasn't ignoring me...

"I have to tell you something..." I stuttered.

This was probably a terrible thing to do, but i can't keep secrets from him.

"Yeah? Hope it's important." He said nonchalantly.

"I think I'm... In love with... You..." I whispered.

"Okay." Said Dandy and he walked off.

He must've not been paying attention... Again...

"Did... Did you even hear what i said?"

"Yeah, for sure."

"Then repeat it! What did i just say?"

"You said you're in love with me."

I froze in place. He doesn't care, just like that? I felt my heart shatter to pieces. Almost physically.

"Don't worry about it, I'll have fun with that." He said as he left.

What did he mean by "fun"? Have i made a mistake? Should i have not told him? Maybe he just didn't think i actually meant it? He thought it was a joke?

I knocked on Dandy's door again. Nobody answered. I was about to leave when i realized the door was open. I slowly walked inside.
I couldn't find Dandy anywhere... But i swear i saw him go here!

Until i noticed... Dandy was sleeping cozily in his bed. I've... Never seen him so relaxed.
I walked next to him.
He hates people touching him, even if it's just a handshake. But he hates having his petals touched even more. They look so soft and puffy...!

I slowly reached my hand out to his petals. When my hand touched them, Dandy moved a bit and i got scared to death, covering my mouth so I don't make a noise.
Luckily, he didn't wake up. I was playing with fire.
I reached out again, running my hand across his petals. They really were as soft as they looked, but...
My hand had multicolor stains on it now. That probably explains the stains on the bed too. He paints his petals? What color were they really?

I ran my hand along one of his petals when i saw Dandy start smiling and twitch a bit.
He... Liked it? Why does he keep everyone away then? Maybe he doesn't want the color to fade?
Then, Dandy's hand moved quickly and held mine. I almost yelped from fear, but i controlled myself. He wasn't awake yet, but he held my hand while i brushed along his petals.
A large smile along with a blush covered my face. Dandy seemed to be really happy too.
This couldn't end badly, could it?
