As Ada grabbed his hand desperately, Ezra tried with all his might to not let the stars at the edge of his eyes consume his brain entirely. He didn't succeed, glancing a worried look towards his brother as he eventually slipped into a state of unconscious.
As his eyes flashed open, he was somehow standing at the door of his family's farm in Novyi Zem. Narrowing his eyes in confusion, he whipped his head around for any signs of Jesper or Ada or... anyone. The air was thick with a suffocating silence until a voice broke it.
"I knew you'd come back," came the deadly melodic voice that Ezra knew so well.
"Myles?" he spoke shakily.
"Welcome home," Myles beamed, stretching his arms outward in a welcoming embrace.
"This isn't my home anymore," Ezra shook his head rapidly.
"Your home is wherever I am," Myles shook his head, an eerie look in his eye.
"You are the reason I left here. You are the reason I ran away to become a soldier because I couldn't bear the pain of seeing you every day after what you did," Ezra shouted, his built up resentment towards the boy spewing out. He knew this wasn't real, whatever that orange gas was had created a hallucination but that wouldn't stop him from telling the boy how he truly felt.
"And what exactly did I do?" Myles questioned, his voice rising an octave as a cold look echoed through his eyes.
"You killed my mother," Ezra muttered furiously, his nails digging into his palm as his hands balled into fists.
"Silena killed your mother, it was her from which the poison seeped into your mother's body," Myles widened his eyes.
"And who poisoned Silena?" Ezra gritted out.
Myles' eye twitched momentarily, as if he was caught in the glitch of a memory.
"Say it," Ezra whispered dangerously. "Say it."
"She was flirting with you, I had to make it stop," Myles murmured bitterly.
"She should have died."
"No. No she wasn't and no you didn't," Ezra's voice cracked slightly as the emotion overwhelmed him. "You killed an innocent young girl all because you were too insecure in our relationship. I loved you Myles, you had nothing to worry about."
"And you still do love me right?" Myles widened his eyes again in feigned innocence that Ezra's glare tore right through.
"I never wanted to see you again. Even in my unconscious I can't be at peace from you," Ezra shook his head, his lip curling slightly as the multitude of emotions surrounding him started to settle into anger.
"I will always be here in your mind, whether you want me to or not," Myles spoke as a smirk pulled at the corner of his lip.
"I could be stuck in limbo for eternity with just you and in that entire time I wouldn't say a word. What you did to Silena and my mother, what you did to Jesper and my friends are unforgivable. I have never met a more insane person," Ezra sharply spat.
"You don't mean that," Myles shook his head dejectedly, his lip quivering as he spoke.
"You are dead to me," Ezra whispered furiously.
A sudden jolt came over his body as if he had been shook in an hourglass. Myles faded away into nothingness, the sight he'd always yearned to see. As Ezra felt his consciousness start to take over, he felt an immense sense of relief. He'd vowed never to speak to Myles again but the hallucination had given him a chance to lift the load upon his chest. Maybe it was time he told Ada exactly what happened in Novyi Zem that left him crawling away wounded.
