At Skull Reef, a gathering of pirates had assembled, each one wearing the marks of their trade—scarred faces, tattoos, and hardened expressions that came only from years at sea. These were some of the most notorious and ruthless pirates left standing, the survivors of recent assaults that had left Skull Reef in shambles. The atmosphere was tense, laced with suspicion and fear.Rumors had spread like wildfire about who might be behind the sudden attacks on the pirate world. Pirates who had once stood as allies now eyed each other with distrust.
- Grizzled Pirate (scowling): "Someone's tryin' to wipe us out, one by one. And it sure as hell ain't just the Navy doing this."
A younger pirate, known for his sharp tongue, scoffed at the suggestion.
- Young Pirate: "The Navy's got the power, sure, but they've never been this sneaky. No, this feels like somethin' else. I heard it's the Shadow Corsairs, a covert group pulling strings from the shadows."
The mention of the Shadow Corsairs sent a ripple of murmurs through the crowd. This was a name most of them had only heard in hushed whispers—a secret strike force rumored to work for the Navy, skilled in covert attacks and known for turning allies into enemies.
- Scarred Pirate (grumbling): "If the Shadow Corsairs are real, then someone must be leadin' 'em. And what I wanna know is—who put 'em up to this?"
Another pirate, fierce and scarred from countless battles, pointed a finger toward the sea.
- Fierce Pirate: "I'll tell you who. It's them captains—Alexandria and Elara. While we're losin' crews, they're still out there, recruitin' and takin' over. Coincidence? I think not."
A roar of agreement echoed through the group. Distrust toward Alexandria and Elara was brewing, fueled by recent losses and the rising fear of betrayal.
- Suspicious Pirate: "It makes sense, don't it? We're fightin' each other while they're off gatherin' power. If anyone's got the guts to make a play for control, it's them."
But just as the discussion reached a fever pitch, a figure stepped into the circle of pirates. The crowd fell silent as they recognized Commander Rainer, a former Navy officer who had once stood against them but was now a rogue force of his own. His presence immediately put everyone on edge.
- Older Pirate (growling): "What's Commander Rainer doin' here? You think we'll trust a Navy dog?"
Rainer raised his hands, signaling for calm, his face set in a grim expression as he looked around at the suspicious faces.
- Rainer (firmly): "I know what you're all thinking. But I didn't come here to trick you. I came here because the Navy is pulling the strings in ways you haven't seen before. They're using a force they created just for this—the Shadow Corsairs."
The crowd's muttering grew louder, disbelief and anger mingling as Rainer spoke. The fearsome figure of Red Skies Mara stepped forward, her piercing gaze fixed on Rainer.
- Red Skies Mara (sneering): "So now we're supposed to believe you're on our side, Commander? Sounds like you've been sent to lead us into a trap."
Rainer's expression didn't waver, his eyes meeting hers steadily.
- Rainer: "If I wanted to trap you, I wouldn't be warning you about the Shadow Corsairs. They were created to break the pirate world from within, to make you fight each other until there's no one left. You've already seen the signs—the attacks, the betrayals, the fear spreading among you. That's their doing."
A wary silence settled over the group as they began to piece together the recent events in a new light. Pirates exchanged glances, some clearly wrestling with the possibility that Rainer's words were true.
