"Oh, Y/n! I'm so sorry! Are you alright?!"

It was the very next day.

And despite her head injury, Y/n still managed to roll out of bed that morning and go to work at the local city library.

"Please, Rinrika, I promise I'm alright. I'm here, aren't i?"

"Yes, but .. You're head ... after we were separated, I was practically thrown out of the bar while you were in still in there. Then sober fatui soldiers came rushing to the scene to break up the fight, and I- i didn't know where you went and I was forced to go home without getting the chance to look for you!"

Y/n placed a gentle hand on the back of her. Her eyes dilating a bit as she focused back onto the events of last night.

"Are you alright?"

...

"Judging from your lack of response, scared expression, and the blood trickling down your forehead ... i'll take that as definitive no."

She felt him grab her chin with his other hand and inspected the rest of her face.

"Despite that head injury, I don't see anymore blood. Were you hit anywhere else?"

Her lips trembled, but she managed to answer this time, how could he be so calm?! There was a literal fight going on around them!

"I was elbowed in the stomach and pushed down, but other than that .. i- I'm alright."

"Good."

She watched as he turned his head, and when he spotted what he was looking for he dragged her along. His hand still firmly wrapped around her arm.

The exit!

Capitano pushed the door open to the bar and walked out so simply. As if walking through a crowd of drunk, angry men was the easiest thing he had ever done. Then again, even a drunk man wouldn't dare throw a punch at a harbinger.

"Here, get that head injury checked out and go home."

Just as he turned to leave, she had so brazingly caught a hold of his sleeve, and instead of shrugging her off, he glanced back at her, "yes?"

"T- thank you very much."

He didn't give a reply as he waited for her to let go of his sleeve. Sensing the awkwardness soon take over, she let her hand drop to her side, and he left to go back into the bar as other sober fatui soldiers followed in after.

"Excuse me ma'am," a mirror maiden called out, "I can heal your injury if you would step over here."

After her healing treatment and a bandage being gently wrapped around her head, she was asked if she would like an escort home, y/n declined seeing as how they already had their hands full. And (almost disappointedly so) she had yet not seen the Captain exit the bar again.

"What a gentleman," Rinrika swooned.

Y/n gave a sheepish laugh. She was glad that her friend wasn't feeling bad anymore. It was honestly a situation neither of them could have avoided.

"Yeah, yeah. Now let's get back to work, ok?"

Rinrika nodded and just as they both stood from their seats, all done with their break and ready to get back to organizing books and what-not, the front entrance bell rang, signaling that that the door opened.

Y/n was already unraveling the bandage from her head as she knew that the wound was already healed, and then headed towards the front to see if she could help with whoever just entered.

"You can continue organizing Rinrika."

"Of course! Good luck!"

The moment y/n reached the front, she was quick to freeze up. Her hands grasping tightly at the bandage in her hands.

"Y/n L/n I presume? The girl from last night?"

"Y- yes, hello .. C- Capitano. Its a pleasure to see you here .. is there anything I can help you with today?"

She tried to speak smoothly, but her words kept getting caught up.

Why was he here?!

Turning to her fully, he reached in his coat and pulled out a rather familiar looking book.

"I found this last night. It had the name of the library it belongs to and your name in it. So, I figured that if you weren't in the library, I could at least return it."

She never thought a harbinger would care so much for a book, but she was grateful nonetheless. Paying for a book she had lost definitely wouldn't end well for her especially since this library job didn't pay much in the first place which was why she had her second job-

"I- i- thank you so much, Capitano!"

Her fear was quick to wash away when she lightly grabbed the book from him. He didn't resist in giving it back to her.

"Is there anything I can do to repay you," she asked with a smile.

He didn't answer and she presumed that he was thinking it over.

"No .. I can't think of something right now, but .. seeing as how you can't stop thanking me as of late, I know it will bother you eventually if things such as this keeps happening."

"So, you'll think about it?"

He scanned her delicate features and thought back for a moment, but he kept himself focused to not get too lost in thought.

"Yes."

Without another word, the Captain gave her a silent nod goodbye before heading for the exit.

And before y/n could think about the encounter, Rinrika had tackled her into a hug from behind.

"Like I said Y/n, you need a husband."

It took y/n a moment to register what Rinrika meant by that.

"No!"
