Ever since she got the book that Capitano had given her, she had read it and reread it a multitude of times. It got to the point that she would recite the whole book in her sleep. Though she didn't complain and definitely didn't ask Capitano for a new book or for her to go out with him to get a new one.
She was afraid if she pushed the issue too much, then he would get annoyed and retract his words.
She definitely didn't want that. Not one bit. So she kept her mouth shut and her thoughts to herself.
Besides, rereading the book wasn't so bad. It was cute. In its own way. And everytime she read it, she couldn't help but to think of her own situation.
Sure, Capitano didn't find her broken and battered in the snow. But he still took her for himself just as the knight did with the fairy.
"Reading again?"
She jumped a little as her head shot up from the book. Her face feeling hot as she suddenly realized how lost in thought she was for Capitano to be able to sneak up on her. Usually she was very good when it came to listening for his footsteps. Mainly because it gave her a chance to compose herself and be ready for whatever he was going to say to her.
And as she opened and closed her mouth, completely and utterly unprepared for the surprise conversation, Capitano merely mused to himself as he watched her before gesturing for her to get up out of bed and to follow him.
"Why don't you read to me since you seem to like to stare at the book then engage in any conversation."
He was teasing her now, and she could only bite the inside of her cheek as she couldn't think up of any snide remarks to through back at him.
And as she followed him, she couldn't help but to notice how they didn't go to living room. Her eyes immediately creasing with worry as he opened the one door she didn't want to walk through.
His room.
I most certainly do not want to cuddle up next to him on his bed and read-
"Y/n, come here."
It took her a moment to realize that she had stopped walking. Taking a shaky breath, she tried to focus on putting one foot in front of the other until she was standing next to his bed. He had already propped up the pillows and got comfortable, his back sitting up against the head board.
His head was turned at her and even though she couldn't see his face due to his mask, she knew his eyes were staring at her expectantly. So, swallowing any fear that she most definitely had, she crawled in next to him. Her form curling up as she held the book tightly against her.
"All you have to do is read to me, y/n. How hard could that be?"
She didn't want to answer as she shakily opened the book to the first page.
It was going to be a long night. She could tell.
