"Hey there, handsome. Mind sharing a drink with me?"

Y/n stood there flabbergasted.

Not even a foot in the door, and her friend Rinrika was already hanging off some man's arm.

Unbelievable.

She smiled and shook her head.

Her eyes did take a once over at everyone in the bar, and she determined that there was no quiet place she could peacefully read her book.

Yes, book. Yes, read.

She was in no way, shape, or form an alcoholic or party animal. She much preferred the comforts of her own bed.

And seeing how her friend was handling herself ever so confidently in the bar, she realized that coming here was a mistake. Sighing to herself, she went to go find an empty seat nonetheless. The least she could do is stay for awhile.

Besides, it wasn't like anyone was going to talk to her anyway.

Plopping herself into a free seat, she made sure that no one's belongings were there (because if there were then she would probably have to deal with some drunk person saying "hey! I set my stuff there cause I was saving that spot-" and what not).

"Now, let's see where I left off..," she mumbled whole pulling out her book. Her eyes almost shining as she began to tune everyone out.

Working at the city's library was great and all, but finding time to actually sit down and read was a rare commodity.

So, why not enjoy the "night life" in her own little way?

MEANWHILE,

"THE HELL YOU JUST SAY TO ME?!"

A FIGHT BROKE OUT.

"YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT I JUST SAID, BITCH!"

Two men were already in fighting stances, one of them just so happened to be Rinrika's date. She silently cursed herself. She always knew which guys were the safe ones, but this guy wasn't good at all. Especially when given drunken courage.

She, then, immediately let go of the man's arm that she clinging to and instead backed away a bit.

The night was young and plentiful. But someone just had to bump into the drunk by accident, and before she knew it they were yelling at each other.

Tch, men.

Whatever, I better find y/n and get out of here.

Bar fights never end well. I wouldn't want her to get punched, kicked, or have a glass bottle thrown at her after all.

Quickly scanning the bar, she found her friend sitting alone an empty table. Book in hand.

If things were escalating so drastically, then Rinrika would of laughed and teased her friend the very next day.

But that can wait.

Safety comes first.

Taking one last look at her stupid ass date, she hurried off to y/n just as a punch was thrown.

She didn't know who threw the first punch, but the bar was quick to erupt in an uproar.

Shit!

Glass shattering, people being tossed to the floor, girl's screaming and making for the exit was what caused y/n to snap her head up.

"Y/n!"

"Rinrika?! What on earth happened?! I look down at my book for five minutes and a bar fight breaks out-"

"I'll explain once we're out of here, so come on!"

Rinrika roughly pulled y/n up, her eyes now on the exit as the two girl's geld each other's hands and pushed through the fighting body of drunken fatui men.

"Ah!"

"Y/n!"

The two were pushed away from each other and y/n was elbowed roughly in the stomach and pushed to the ground. Her book skidding across the floor.

"Rinrika! Where are you?!"

Her vision was filled with glass bottles and alcohol spills on a rough, wooden floor. Boot cladded feet dancing in a brawl for supremacy in a fight.

She tried to stand, but was instead knocked back down. Her head hitting the edge of a table.

"Rin!"

She clutched her head as a sharp pain erupted throughout her skull. She didn't like pain. She hated it, in fact.

Though, her yells for her friend were quickly silenced when she felt someone grab her upper arm. The palm of their hand and fingers being able to easily wrap around and squeeze roughly. The way the hand felt against her arm, the strength behind it. She knew it was probably a man far stronger than whoever started this stupid bar fight in the first place.

She then felt a hard yank as she was easily brought to her feet. She couldn't help but to let out a small yelp of pain as it felt like the person was trying to rip her whole arm off.

"Are you alright?"

The voice was a dead calm. And despite the noise of men yelling and cursing, glass breaking, heads being smashed in, bones shattering - his voice was as clear as day.

Finally gaining a little courage to look up, she seemed to freeze up completely. Her words being trapped in her mouth.

And who could blame her?

It wasn't every day that The Captain picked you up off of a floor during a bar fight.

"Judging from your lack of response, scared expression, and the blood trickling down your forehead ... i'll take that as definitive no."
