PRESENT TIME
"A- a dance?!"
"It's more a formal reception that is being held to welcome a diplomat into Snezhnaya."
It had been a whole week since Y/n had last seen the Captain, and here he was again adorning the entrance to the library she worked at.
"And you want me to go to such a formal occasion?"
She asked this nervously. Her hands twiddling in front of herself as she didn't know what to do with them. Oh, if only she had pockets!
"Indeed, you had asked me to think of something I can have you do to repay me. Your company to this reception will do just fine."
"But why this? Surely there is something else-"
"You will listen to me, y/n. It was you who offered to give me something and all I ask is for your company. Is that so much to ask? Or...," he got closer to her and bent down a little, "or maybe you want me to have you do something else?"
"C- Captain!"
She could feel her face grow hot while an unfamiliar feeling rise up inside her. She quickly pushed the feeling down as he let out a low chuckle and leaned away from her.
"The reception is tomorrow night at eight. I will pick you up. Just write down your address and wear something suitable for the formal occasion, and don't worry about your act...you'll mainly be conversing with me."
He turned and paused at the front door, "well?"
She hastily nodded and rushed to the front desk and found a piece of paper. Tearing a small corner whilst grabbing the nearest pen, she scribbled down her address and a brief description of what her (very) small and cheap house looked like.
"Here you go."
He took the slip of paper and pushed open the door. Snezhnaya's cold air immediately nipping at her cheeks.
"Tomorrow night at eight," he reaffirmed her.
"Tomorrow night at eight," she repeated albeit a bit nervously.
Seeming to think she had the instructions nailed in her head, he left the library. The door closing with a soft 'click' behind him.
"Oh dear, what did I get myself into?"
Rinrika was taking the day off today, so it felt weird being alone in the library with Capitano. Thankfully the interaction didn't last long.
She shook her head.
"No matter. It's back to work for me. Besides, I can worry about all that tomorrow."
