The night was long and it was very hot. Yet she kept on reading aloud as if her life depended on it. And it didn't help that she was so scared. Everytime he moved or adjusted himself to get in a better position she would momentarily freeze. Her words would get caught in her throat and she would find herself losing where she was until he would reach around her, his index finger lightly tapping a word in the middle of page.

And that was how the night went on. Until her words would die out and Capitano's breathing would settle into a slow rhythm.

Her shaky hands would reach over and place the book on the nightstand next the bed where her eyes would catch sight of a silver key. Her lips pressed tight together and her head would turn to look back at Capitano.

He was asleep, she was sure of it.

Slowly getting out of the bed, she reached for the key. Her fingers wrapping around it and pulling it close before she would tiptoe out of the room. Her head looking back every now again to make sure he stayed asleep.

Then, once she got to her room, she was quick to go to her dresser. Her free hand pulling the knob so the drawer would open and so she could riffle through all the clothes she had in there.

But nothing was thick enough for the cold, and she didn't deem it safe enough to go back into Capitano's room...

Sighing to herself, she settled to ripping two blankets off of the bed, they were heavy and warm, so they could help a bit.

Then, making a run for the front door while being careful not to make any noise. She jabbed the key into the slot and turned it carefully. Her eyes flicking to her surroundings and her head turning every now and again. Her heart thumping loud in her chest, she hoped Capitano couldn't hear such a thing.

Shakily, she twisted the doorknob and the front door was finally opened. The cold, the snow, and the wind of Snezhnaya smacked her in the face hard, but she didn't care. She needed to get out.

And this was her chance.

Stepping out, she closed the door behind her. Then, bundling up the blankets around her, she took off running in the direction she hoped would be her actual home.
