Capitano reminiscenced. He thought about y/n, how he first saw her, and how he went about obtaining her.

It was just like any other day within the borders of Snezhnaya. Cold, snowy, winter weather biting at you at every second of the day, with an unforgiving environment surrounding you where standing still could freeze you to death.

"What are you doing?"

He was out on patrol, looking for treasure hoarders, bandits, thieves, and criminals of the like. Instead, however, he was met with a young woman digging through the snow.

Her hands were shaking, trembling. He could faintly hear her teeth chattering and her bones cracking. If she stayed out here any longer, she too would succumb to the weather - to the sheer cold and ultimately freeze to death.

"Looking for something," she managed to stutter out, the cold impending her speech.

"Is this what you're looking for?"

Stuffing his hand into his pocket, he dug out a small locket that he had found while trugding through the snow. The moment she turned to look at him, her eyes were quick to brighten. It caught him off guard for a second. It wasn't something he wasn't used to seeing. Not in Snezhnaya.

The people in this region, always tend to break. Always tend to lose the little light they have left. And yet, she seemed to be a bright and happy as ever.

"You found it!"

She jumped from her spot in the snow almost immediately as she rushed to him. Her eyes trained on the locket in his hand as she didn't even acknowledge who he was or what he looked like.

He shifted his hold and dangled the locket as she cupped her hands together. Then, releasing his fingers from the silver chain, the locket dropped into her hand.

"Was it important to you that much that you would dig in the snow?"

He didn't mean for his tone to sound harsh.

"Truthfully? No. Not at all. I could actually care less about this dumb old locket."

"Then why risk your life to find it?"

She shrugged, "maybe I was bored?"

She confused him greatly.

The second time they saw each other, she looked to be much warmer. The locket was nowhere in sight. And he decided to walk up to her and ask her about it.

They were at a rather small restaurant at the time. She was sitting outside at on of the tables by an outdoor heater, reading a book.

"No locket?"

His voice startled her for a second, but she didn't look up at him. He did, however, see her small smile.

"No, I got rid of it."

"Why?"

"Didn't want it anymore."

He huffed but left it at that. Their conversation cutting short as he made his leave. And he swore he heard her laugh a little as he walked away.

The next time, she was laughing. He thought that she was beautiful with a smile on her face.

Then another time when she was crying.

Then she was angry.

Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. And he never got tired of looking for her within Snezhnaya. It got to the point where he never went up to her anymore. It got to the point where he would track her down if he didn't see her for a few days. It got to the point where all he wanted to do was know her and know of her. He knew what he was doing was wrong. That what he was doing wasn't normal.

But he didn't want to let go. He refused to let go.

"Capitano, for your service, I shall grant you one request."

He found himself lost in the days as he would constantly think of her. Of y/n. He knew of her for two years now.

has it really been that long since he saw her crouched down in the snow?

It has been that long.

And now, he found himself with an opportunity. The Tsaritsa always made a grand ceremony where she would ask each of her harbingers what they would want for their years of service. (The harbingers with human lifespans tend to get asked more often due to their shorter lives...)

"I only want one thing..."

And finally, for the first time, he was going to ask for something he wasn't supposed to ask for.

"...and that is Y/n L/n."
