Zoe groaned, rolling over in her king-sized bed, the fluffy covers and cool air conditioning.
Suddenly, a familiar voice interrupted her peaceful wake-up.
"Zoe! Wake up, girl!"
Zoe's eyes flew open, her brain still fuzzy from sleep. She recognized the voice instantly: Carlos.
"What the hell, Carlos? It's too early," she grumbled, rolling onto her back.
Carlos's voice got even louder, his frustration evident.
"It's ten in the morning, babe! Time to get your ass out of bed."
Zoe groaned again, burying her face in the pillow. Ten in the morning? It felt like she'd only slept a few minutes.
"Why are you being so loud? I'm trying to sleep."
"Because we have plans, remember? We're going shopping in the city today. You promised!"
Zoe's mind went blank, and then she remembered her promise. Damn it.
"Shit, that's right," she grumbled, grudgingly pushing herself up into a sitting position. The covers fell away, revealing her tousled hair and sleepy expression.
"Alright, I'm up. Happy now?"
"Not until you get your ass out of that bed."
Zoe scowled but didn't have the energy to argue. She slowly pushed herself out of bed, feeling like she'd just been hit by a truck.
Her usual morning routine consisted of caffeine-fueled activity, and without it, she felt like a zombie.
"I hate you."
Zoe grumbled, shuffling towards her closet to grab some clothes.
Carlos observed Zoe's sluggish movements and chuckled. He leaned against the door frame.
"So, how was your date last night with Miss Taylor Swift?"
Zoe let out a yawn as she rummaged through her closet, trying to find something presentable to wear. She paused at Carlos's question, a sly smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
"Oh, it was good,"
she replied casually, finally pulling out a pair of jeans and a cute top.
"Just good? Come on, give me the juicy details. How was the food and most importantly the sex?"
Zoe tied her hair up in a messy bun and threw a hoodie over her shirt before walking over to him.
"The food was excellent, she's an amazing cook and it was a nice date nothing happened."
Carlos raised an eyebrow, disappointment clear on his face.
"Nothing happened? You didn't pull the Zoe move like you always do? Seriously? What kind of lesbian are you turning into?"
Zoe let out a laugh, shoving Carlos playfully. She couldn't deny that she had a reputation of being quite forward.
But with Taylor...it was different.
"I'm losing my touch, aren't I? But with Taylor...I don't know. It feels different. I don't want to rush things like I usually do. I like her, okay?"
Carlos feigned shock, placing a hand dramatically over his heart.
"Wait, you're actually taking it slow for once? Who are you and what have you done with the real Zoe?"
"Ha ha, very funny. Just because I don't have a different girl in my bed every weekend, doesn't mean I don't know what taking it slow means."
