It was late in the evening, and Zoe lay in her childhood bedroom under the duvet. She held the phone tightly to her ear.

Taylor's voice, full of excitement and sweetness, comes through the phone speaker, they've been talking for quite some time.

"Hey, did I tell you what happened today? We were in the studio, working on the new album, and we were trying to come up with a bridge for one of the songs, right? So we're all sitting around, throwing ideas back and forth, and out of nowhere, Jack he just starts drumming this crazy beat and...."

Zoe smiled, listening intently to Taylor's animated story. She curled up even further under the duvet. She interjected occasionally with questions or comments, but mostly just enjoyed listening to Taylor talk about her day in excruciating detail.

"...and then the song just came together so effortlessly, it was insane. I swear some of our best work happens during those late-night studio sessions..."

Taylor's voice held a note of awe, as if she was still amazed at her own creative process. She paused for a moment, letting out a little sigh of contentment.

"I missed you today. God, you have no idea how much I wish you were here.."

"I missed you too. I wish I was there with you...or that you were here with me."

"Oh god, don't even get me started on how much I'd love to be there right now,"

"Just imagining you tucked into a cozy old house somewhere in the UK...it's like a scene pulled from a Hallmark movie. Can I come over? Can I just get on the next flight and show up at your doorstep?"

Zoe laughed softly at Taylor's wishful thinking. The fantasy of her girlfriend showing up unannounced at her parents' doorstep was both amusing and enticing.

"I told my mom and sister about us."

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Zoe could almost feel Taylor's surprise through the phone. When she spoke again, there was a note of curiosity in her voice.

"You did?? What did they say??"

"They freaked out, mostly," Zoe chuckled, recalling the look on her mother's face when she had revealed the news. "At least my sister did. My mom has no idea who you are."

"Your poor mother. Oh god, I would've pay to see her face when she realized who her daughter was dating. Is she Googling me as we speak, trying to catch up?

Zoe joined in her laughter, amused by the thought of her mother frantically searching for information about her famous girlfriend on the internet.

"I wouldn't put it past her. She's probably combing through every article and interview she can find as we speak. Maybe I should prepare a 'Taylor Swift 101' guide for her.." she joked.

"Hey, I'd gladly provide my input to that guide. I could do a whole segment on my favorite songs, my best fashion moments, and, of course, my undying affection for this amazing English girl I know..."

"You're so cheesy," she chided, trying to sound reproachful. "But I do like the sound of being 'that amazing English girl' you keep mentioning. Makes me sound mysterious and intriguing.."

"I love your accent, Z. Seriously, everything sounds better when you say it. I could listen to you read the phone book and it would be like poetry. The way you say 'mate' and 'flat' and 'biscuits'? Completely adorable."

Zoe blushed, her heart racing at Taylor's compliments. She couldn't help but feel a mix of embarrassment and delight at being described as adorable. She playfully rolled her eyes, even though Taylor couldn't see her.
