"I wish you were here with me right now," Taylor sighed.
Zoe could picture her girlfriend, probably in her hotel room, putting on the finishing touches to her makeup and outfit.
"I wish I was too," she responded, flopping back against her pillow with a sigh. "I can practically see you right now, getting all glammed up and looking absolutely stunning..."
"You just have a vivid imagination," Taylor laughed, clearly enjoying the attention. "And yeah, I am looking pretty hot right now. Wish you could see it in person, though.."
"Oh? Just 'pretty hot'? You underestimate yourself, darling. I'd say you probably look downright sinful, and I'm sure everyone at the awards ceremony will be drooling over you as soon as you walk in..."
"Stop it, you're making me blush! And don't you worry, I'll be making sure to think of you the whole time I'm at the VMAs."
"You'd better be. Just try not to think about me too much when you're on stage. We don't need you giving a speech and accidentally saying my name instead of accepting your awards."
"Oh god, could you imagine?" Taylor laughed at the idea. "I'm accepting my award, thanking everyone for voting, and then suddenly I just blurt out 'Zoe, I miss you!' in front of a live audience."
"Yeah, I think that would create some big headlines," Zoe joined in her laughter. "The tabloids would have a field day with that."
"I really do miss you though... Being apart from you sucks."

Zoe was sitting on the couch, her attention fully focused on the TV. The VMAs were in full swing, and she was eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of her girlfriend. Meanwhile, Stephanie and Leah were sitting next to her, half-heartedly watching the awards ceremony. At every opportunity, the camera would cut to Taylor - sitting in the audience, accepting an award, or even just walking down the red carpet. And every time, Zoe would let out a gleeful cry, pointing at the screen and exclaiming, "Look, look! There she is!"
Stephanie and Leah would both roll their eyes and make sarcastic comments like "We know, we have working eyes" or "How could we miss her, she's all over the screen" but they couldn't hide their smiles at Zoe's excited reactions.
"Oh shush, you're just jealous because she's my girlfriend," Zoe shot back at her sister.
Zoe was too busy swooning over every move her girlfriend made on screen the camera cut back to Taylor. She was practically drooling.
"Yeah, we're sooo jealous," Leah joked, rolling her eyes again. "We're just sitting here, wishing we had a famous singer girlfriends too. Oh, how will we cope?"
