Chapter 15 (Journey to Grandline)

Ki shoved the man to the side easily and tossed Usopp out the doorway, "Out of here, you have wasted enough of his time and money."

The man snatched her arm and hollered, "You can't just take my cash co-" He cleared his throat and redirected angrily, "Are you planning on stealing that bag?! How dare you woman I should-" Ki bore daggers into the man as she dug her hand into her pocket and dropped a handful of Berries to the ground.

She tore her arm from the man and stomped outside, "That should be more than enough you shitty swindler!" She flipped him off without turning around, while her other hand outstretched to the bewildered sniper, "Sorry about that. Had to get you outta there before that asshole bled you dry."

Usopp spied the red mark around Ki's arm and scowled, "Asshole is right. How dare he man handle you like that. I outta give him a piece of my mind!"

He clasped his hand in hers and she wrenched him from the ground, "Not worth it man, I'm totally fine."

The sniper gaped at her, "Honestly I'm surprised that guy still has his teeth after that."

Ki chuckled, "If this had happened back home, oh yeah. That guy would be in a bloody pulp right now," She sighed as she knelt down and pulled the clothes from her shopping bags, quickly folding them and shoving them into her new backpack with a huff.

Usopp patted her shoulder as she stood, "At least some of us have some sense huh? Haha!"

She raised an eyebrow, 'I have some sense but you're a coward,' Ki tossed her bag over her shoulder and pointed with her thumb down an alley. "You seen Luffy yet? I'm trying to see if I can spot him before the Marines do."

The sniper shook his head and shrugged, "Ya know, you really squander your ability Ki. You can just snap your fingers and find him. Why are you wasting your time walking around?"

Ki placed a hand on her hip and raised the other with her index finger extended, "I can't run the risk of someone seeing that part of my ability. Could you imagine if the wrong person knew about that? I would have a big fat target on my back. I will only use that in a life or death situation in public, so keep that in mind," That was a heavy warning that Whitebeard had given her after a few times of visiting them, his words were more foreboding than she cared to share now, though.

Usopp rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "I suppose that is true. I hadn't considered something like that. You devil fruit users are in a whole other mess of trouble compared to us regular people."

She shrugged and waved behind her as she trailed off into the alley, "See you later! Be careful!"

Ki rounded a corner and spotted a handful of shady looking people skulking around in the square, she ducked behind some crates and eyed them. 'What's with those guys? They don't look like Marines, pirates maybe? Is that a lion with them?' The group split and three of the cloaked figures bolted passed her muttering something about Straw Hat. Ki bit her lip, "They're probably bounty hunters. Shit, I really gotta find that kid before he gets himself captured," She turned on her heel back in the direction she left Usopp but the sniper was long gone. There was some commotion off in the distance and she raised her hand over her eyes to squint in that direction. There was a huge crowd of people with a mixture of cheering and booing but she didn't spot anyone of note. Unfortunately Nami and Usopp were lost amongst the boisterous group so she trudged in a new trajectory.

After running down a handful of alleys and ending up with nothing; no sight of her crewmates or more importantly her brother. Ki cocked her head to the side at the docks, it was crawling with more people shouting and chanting something. She took a few steps closer to get a better look and saw that it was some kind of cooking contest. Adding to the excitement was the blond cook, right in the middle of it. With a deep sigh she turned on her heel, "Welp guess he's not keeping a low profile. Nami will be sooo pleased," She returned to the alleys, dodging Marines and more of the cloaked figures along the way. Her walking turned to a trot then finally she broke out into a sprint, "Dammit, Luffy where the hell did you go?!"
