Chapter 2 (East Blue Saga)

After about a month of waiting around, avoiding Garp's calls, visits with Ace a few more times and chores for Dadan... 'Badabadabada,' The snail in Ki's pocket buzzed, during the day? So it shouldn't be Ace, could it be?

'Ca-lick,' Before she could even speak Luffy's boisterous laugh bulldozed through the line. "Ki!! I did it! I have 3 crew members and a ship!"

Ki sniffled and laughed, "Give me a few minutes to tell everyone goodbye, then you can introduce me in person," Luffy stifled his excitement and agreed.

They hung up, and Ki ran to Dadan, "Welp guys, it's finally time for me to leave... Again," None of them turned around and she knew why but she hugged Dadan's back anyway. "Thank you for raising all of us. We love you more than you could ever know....Mom. Give Makino and the others my love."

As she turned to pull away, Dadan gripped her hand, "Take care of our boy..."

Ki squeezed her hand and sighed, "Always."

Ki packed up a few small things and threw the bag over her shoulder. "Show me, Monkey D. Luffy," An image of her baby brother smiling with a few new friends spawned in front of her and her heart beamed with pride,"Window portal." As she stepped through the portal there were gasps around her but all she could see was Luffy slingshotting into her body.

His arms coiled around her tightly as he laughed, "Guys! This is my sister Ki!" 'Pop!' She managed to wriggle an arm free to wave at the small group. As she was about to shake hands with the swordsman, she was whisked away to the head of the ship, "And THIS, is the Merry," As she dangled in front of the giant sheep head she squealed and hugged Merry's face, "So cute!! What a darling figurehead for this crew!"

Luffy finally put her down and Ki dropped her bag to attempt introductions again, all the while the crew were mystified by the woman who was, Luffy's sister. She looked almost like a carbon copy of him, rather, him a copy of her due to her being two years older. Her hair was the same shade as his, hanging in a low pony tail ending just above her lower back. She had two small moles under her right eye that almost mirrored the scar under Luffy's left eye in a way.

Their smiles and laughs mimicked each other but she had a slightly reserved nature. Still silly but mature and a bit cautious. She was about the same height as Luffy, a couple inches taller with her boots. Her choice of clothing was not at all what they anticipated from a small island girl; a small black crop top with fishnet underneath, dark cuffed shorts with long striped socks and leather boots. Last but not least, she wore a forearm length striped guard on her left arm (which she immediately showed Usopp as they matched). Her outfit and piercings (double pierced ears, and a tongue ring) were the least of their questions at this point though.

Finally the long nosed boy burst out, "How the heck did you even get here?!... Not to be rude but..it was strange." Zoro and Nami looked at each other and nodded their heads in agreement.

Ki chuckled, "Wow Luffy didn't even explain to your friends about my powers?"

Luffy shrugged, "Kinda forgot that was a weird thing."

The swordsman, redhead and long nosed boy all yell, "HOW DO YOU NOT THINK THAT'S WEIRD!?!"

Ki plopped down on the floor of the Merry and invited the rest to join her, "I'll explain in the best way I can. You all know by now about Luffy's Gum Gum powers from his devil fruit so that part is easy. A few years ago I got my hands on a Window Window fruit and now I can open 'windows' to people I have a strong bond with. I just state the full name of the person I would like to see or visit, and I can open a portal to them," She extended out her arm, palm up, "Show me Monkey D. Luffy," and an image of Luffy appeared over her hand, moving in real time with him. The group gasped as she pulled down on the window and reached through it to poke Luffy's cheek. She giggled, "It's a bit cooler of an explanation when the person isn't right in front of you, but I only have a tether with a few people so far."

The swordsman grinned, "That must come in handy."

The long nosed boy piped in, "So you can't just go anywhere? Even if you can think of a place in detail, you have to go to a person?"

Ki tapped her chin and shrugged, "As far as i'm aware. I haven't really tried that."

The redhead finally spoke up, "You have to have a strong bond with the person? What if you needed to get back to someone you didn't know super well."

Ki stared at her for a moment, "Honestly, I'm not too sure. I imagine I would have to study the person's face enough to memorize it and see. Maybe I can test that out with you guys sometime! Also, a minor thing that I can do is make an area window, where I make a small portal within my eyesight. Enough about me, so which one of these fine people did Luffy kidnap first?"

Zoro, Nami and Usopp introduced themselves one by one, sharing their meetings with Luffy.

"I thought you looked familiar! Way to go Luffy recruiting a famous pirate hunter, genius," she bopped Luffy on the head. Ki's hyperbolic irritation turned to a smile, then playfully jabbed Usopp in the ribs, "So you ever gonna tell Kaya how you feel about her?"

Usopp turned twelve different shades of red and shrieked nonsense as they all burst out laughing.

Ki leaned back onto her elbows as she eyed Nami, "So the Navigator, cat burglar huh? What's your REAL story?"

Nami seemed surprised at the interrogation, "I'm a navigator, not this ship's navigator."

Ki raised an eyebrow, 'If you're not the ship's navigator then why are you here?' Ki realized this girl is not going to be easy, the other two seem trustworthy enough, even though one clearly lies out his ass.

Luffy cracked up and wrapped an arm around Nami, "She just hasn't come around as being my Navigator yet! Heh" Nami laughed and shrugged him off.

After a few more swapped stories and hanging up the brand new jolly roger for the ship, Usopp and Luffy tested out a cannon on a nearby rock formation.

"Hey Luffy, where did you want me to..."

As Ki stepped onto the upper deck with the boys, that cannonball crashed into the formation. Which unfortunately unearthed hiding pirate hunters. The sudden assault threw them into a frenzy to retaliate with Luffy until Zoro realized he knew the two. Ki dropped her backpack in a corner and walked over to the Navigator. She watched as Nami looked over at Yosaku, discovering that he came down with scurvy. Nami yelled for Luffy and Usopp to go grab some limes from the food storage. Ki was surprised when the man popped back up after having a ton of limes shoved down his throat by the two boys.

Ki peered into the storage after Yosaku passed out again,"Not to be a downer after just joining the ship, but we're gonna need a cook if we plan on surviving out on the sea. Nami's right, we need someone who knows how to properly store, prepare and serve food so we all don't get sick like that guy."

Once Ki finished, Johnny chimed in, mentioning a floating restaurant called the Baratie where they could look for a cook.

The crew is quickly navigated to the Baratie by the hunters but the group ran into the marine Lieutenant Fullbody. Fullbody commented on the two hunters going after small fry but Johnny flings the wanted posters over the ground, "Would small time bounty hunters go after these guys!?"

Nami dropped to the ground when she saw Alrong's wanted poster, gripping its edges in her shaky hands. Ki stepped closer to get a look at the paper she held, making a mental note of Nami's reaction.

"Sink em,'' was the last thing Fullbody spouted before his date pulled him away to the restaurant.

The marines under his command sent a cannonball flying at the Merry, Ki was preparing a window to protect the ship but Luffy jumped up. "I got it! Gum Gum slingshot!" Luffy's hand broke off a piece of Merry's horn, which sent the cannonball flying at the Baratie's roof instead of back at the marines.

Ki rubbed her hand down her face, "Welp, this is a great start, guys, heh. Guess we better go clean up this mess. Come on, Luffy!"

They hopped onto the Baratie where Ki immediately started apologizing to the cooks for the damage, but the two men grabbed Luffy and began dragging him inside. "Hey! Wait a minute! Let's talk about this!"

The two men dropped Luffy in front of a gruff looking older man who seemed to be the owner. Luffy dropped to his knees, "I'm really sorry old man..... Ahhhh your leg!!!!"
