Salt 20 ~

Lila Salt

Lila smiled brightly on the inside as the class came up and comforted her. It had been a week since the expulsion event, and while she was forced to bring Marinette back, the principal and teacher had kept quiet about the lying disease. This led to the majority of the class believing that Marinette was indeed being hostile to Lila. Lila had purposely stayed home for a week, creating the illusion that she was afraid of Marinette.

Speaking of her, the baker girl was not yet in class, and pretended to be concerned about the whereabouts of her classmate.

"Oh don't worry Lila, Marinette is usually late", Alya reassured her.

"I hope she's not upset with me still. She's very convinced that I'm a liar and that I hate her", Lila sobbed.

"I'm sure she's just overreacting. Marinette can jump to the wildest conclusions sometimes but she's not harmful", Alya explained.

"Yeah, I'm sure you and her will be very good friends", Rose agreed.

Lila just smiled as she started forming a new plan to get her followers to hate the baker girl. And to make matters worse, Adrien was not in for half the day due to a photoshoot, which she was not allowed to attend as it was an all boys shoot.

Luckily for her, as the bell rang, Marinette ran in.

"Good morning class, today I have avery important announcement to make", Ms Bustier started.

Lila smiled and preened as she was sure the announcement would be about her, and they would have a special welcome. That was not the announcement.

"So at the end of this week, there will be a careers fair hosted by the seniors year levels of this school. The fair will take place at the school grounds and each student is to make some sort of visual presentation they can present to their peers and younger students. We have not had one of these in a while, however, this years student council thought it would be a wonderful way for everyone to get a glimpse into other career thay may not have considered", Ms Bustier smiled, "Marinette".

Marinette stood up and made her way to the front. As class representative, she was on the student council and had taken part in the decision to run the student career fair this year.

"As you heard from Ms Bustier, this is not the first one the school has run, and while we have not had it in the past few years, the other class representatives and myself thought it would a great way to help each other start figuring out our futures. The project is quite simple, pick a career, and create a visual presentation to present to other students. These can include posters, videos or even some of your own works", Marinette explained, smiling at her classmates knowing some of them already have started working towards their dreams, "If you have any questions, you can ask me, or if I'm not available at the time, you can ask any other class representatives".

"Thank you Marinette", Bustier thanked as she finished up the announcement and started the lesson.

Lila grinned. This was it. Everyone knew that Marinette wanted to be a fashion designer, and now that Lila was a model with the Gabriel brand, people would probably expect her to present something fashion related. All she had to do was steal Marinette idea for the presentation, and claim that Marinette copied her.

By the end of the day all anyone would talk about it the careers fair. Everyone was excited to research their careers and present it. Lila tried gaining some attention by saying she'll probably get information from Gabriel about fashion, which worked for a bit, before everyone went back to discussing their own projects.

By Wednesday, Lila was infuriated. Not only was the career fair taking all the attention, but she hadn't had a chance to peak at Marinette's project. She knew Marinette would never invite her to her room, so she tried manipulating her parents...

"I'm not sure, dear", Sabine answered.

"I'm sure Marinette wouldn't mind if I went up and grabbed the homework", Lila smiled sweetly.

"Marinette didn't mention you were coming, and I understand if it was Alya or Nino, but I'm not sure Marinette would appreciate us sending someone she barely knows up to her room when she's not there", Sabine explained.

"But the work is due tomorrow and-",

"I can go up and grab it for you", Sabine offered.

Lila had to lie her way out of there immediately, but she was sure her parents wouldn't let her into that goody-two-shoes room. She was planning a way to get out of doing the project wehn she walked past Ms Mendeleiv's room...and inside was Marinette with a display board. Lila used her phone to zoom in and just like she had hoped it was a fashion display board, probably for the career's fair. She smirked as she took off to her class. Now she can finally take everything away from Marinette.

It was finally Friday, the day of the careers fair. The fair would start after lunch, and the students could use the time to set up each of their presentations. Lila made sure to take a spot next to next to Marinette she couldn't wait to see the look on her face when she pulled out her display board. Lila had worked hard to create the exact same one she saw Marinette showing Ms Mendeleiv.

"Marinette how could you! You copied my work", Lil sobbed. "I know your jealous that I'm modeling under Gabriel Agreste, but we can still be friends can't we?"

This drew is the attention of teachers and students.

"What!? I didn't copy your work!", Marinette defended.

"Yeah, her's looks nothing like yours dude...what are you talking about?", Nino asked confused.

Lila had been occupied with her fake tears and sobs, she didn't realise that while Marinette's board was in a similar style to the one she had seen before...it was completely different.

"What..?", Lila looked stunned.

"We clearly have different content on ours. Even though they are both about fashion designing", Marinette said clearly annoyed, "But these are my own designs that I have included in my presentation, as well as..".

Marinette pulled out two stunning dresses.

"These are made by me. So tell me how I copied you?"

Everyone was complimenting Marinette's work, when Lila started to panic. Why was Marinette's presentation different to the one she'd seen?? Marinette however smirked when she saw Ms Mendeleiv leave in a hurry to her room.

"Are you alright Lila?", Ms Bustier asked.

"Yeah why'd you say Marinette copied your work?", Alya questioned.

"Because Ms Rossi was clearly trying to frame Ms Dupain-Cheng. The display board that Lila has is the exact same as one that a student made years ago", Ms Mendeleiv explaining, pulling out the display board that Lila had seen with Marinette.

"What!? But I saw her showing you!", Lila accused angrily.

"I wasn't showing her, I was asking to see previous ones on fashion so I can get an idea on how to structure mine and what to include", Marinette smirked.

"Seems like you were indeed trying to frame Ms Dupain-Cheng. We'll be going to the principal's office to discuss why you were trying frame another student, as well as copying another student's work. That is plagiarism and we'll be contacting your mother is well", Ms Mendeliev said, and she and Ms Bustier escorted the liar to the principal's office.
