The sound of chatter rose as people in a variety of outfits in different styles and colours were bustling about in a large dressing room, where everyone was adorned in beautiful, extravagant clothing. Some looked fancy, and some looked comical, depending on the context of each person's performance. This is a famous cabaret show venue in a seaside province, a place where tourists flock to, and the members of this cabaret troupe are well aware that most of the performers are from LGBTQ+ community.
A slender young man in a white shirt and faded, casual jeans, with half of his hair tied up in a slightly messy bun, was focused on sewing some fluffy fabric that needed to be attached to a high-cut pair of shorts for one of the performers.
"Den, I told you, right? Sit carefully," the young man's stern voice rang out, his hands expertly sewing.
"P'Tharn, my name is Daisy," Den, or Daisy, replied with a sulky tone. She was also a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a stunning transgender woman, and one of the stars of the show.
"If you keep ruining the costumes, I'll keep calling you Den," Tharn said, not seriously. Daisy pouted in annoyance, but she couldn't argue because she had indeed accidentally damaged the costume.
"Good thing it's not your turn yet," Tharn said, having finished sewing the fabric onto the costume. He stood up, pointing the sewing needle at his junior in the cabaret troupe in a teasing manner.
"Buy me some, don't complain too much, okay? Tomorrow I'll treat you to som tam," Daisy replied with a smile. Tharn chuckled softly in response.
"At Aunt Oi's place, right?" Tharn replied.
"Sure!" Daisy agreed immediately.
"Come on, go get ready," Tharn waved his hand to send her off before he walked over to check on the others. He was in charge of overseeing this cabaret troupe in place of the owner, who was seriously ill.
Tharn was a 28-year-old young man. He was an orphan who was taken in by the owner of the cabaret when he was 13 years old. This meant he had been involved in the cabaret scene for 15 years, and he had gained the owner's trust immensely because the owner loved Tharn as if he were his own child and intended to pass on the cabaret to Tharn for him to manage.
Tharn is gay, with a sharp appearance and long hair that reaches his neck. He has a slim and well-proportioned figure. Tharn had previously performed with a cabaret troupe and had no issues dressing as a woman, even though he didn't want to be a woman, didn't desire breasts, or want to undergo gender reassignment surgery. He simply likes men and continues to dress like an ordinary man. His passion lies in designing clothes and conceptualizing performances for others rather than performing himself. The owner of the troupe encouraged Tharn to further his studies in fashion design to enhance his work, which allowed him to focus on clothing and performance management for everyone instead of performing on stage.
"Hey, do you think you own the troupe or something?" a mocking voice called out from a group of performers, prompting Tharn to turn and look with a neutral expression. This was a normal occurrence when working with a large group of people, especially in this cabaret troupe, which has over a hundred performers. Not everyone is close or fond of each other, particularly the group that made the snide remark about Tharn, as they were envious of the attention he received from the owner and the plans for him to take care of the cabaret in the future.
"Just got back to work, do you want to take another break, Jett?" Tharn asked in a calm voice, as the other party had previously caused trouble for a newcomer in the troupe, resulting in the newcomer getting hurt. As a consequence, Tharn had ordered the troublemaker to take a week off. Although he was displeased, he couldn't object because all authority now rested with Tharn.
