Nehemia

She had wanted to meet Sam up on the roof again, but every time she thought about doing that, she decided it was better not to. She didn't want to make things awkward between them since they worked together every day, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something between them, as if an invisible force was pulling them together. She didn't try that night, instead she just went home.

The next day after work, Nehemia decided not to wait anymore and she got to the roof without waiting to see if Sam would get up to the roof too. After waiting a few minutes, Sam appeared.

Before Sam said anything, Nehemia started talking. She told Sam about her family back in Ellywe, about the adventures she used to have with her brothers, it was easy to leave all the details about them being royals, so she just kept telling stories until Sam finally told her one of his own. Sam told her about the lullabies his mother used to sing to him, how that was one of the only things he remembered about her. Nehemia asked questions about her, making sure to keep any pity out of her voice and not judging the tears that came down in Sam's cheeks. Other nights they talked about what they loved the most about the places they had grown up in. Nehemia would talk about Ellywe with so much love, she told Sam about the beach and how she loved spending time in the sun.

After that night they spent most nights on the roof, they talked about everything and nothing, they laughed and they cried, they didn't always talk about the past, sometimes it was the future and sometimes it was their actual life. Nehemia didn't remember when was the last time she had been this happy, those moments were the ones where she forgot everything that was going on with her country and her people.
