Sam

Sam had been walking around the port that morning, having nothing to do now that the shop had been sold and Erendr was gone. He hadn't realized that he was late to meeting Nehemia, he had gotten distracted by a man calling about space on his boat to Erilea and he didn't think twice about paying for both of them. Nehemia deserved to have her life back, he knew she had left it all behind so that the world had a chance, she had sacrificed her wants and her life for it, it was his turn to give back to her, to help her get it all back. The next afternoon they were already at sea.

The first day on the ship Sam started noticing things. A few men -males, by the look of their ears- were using their hands to move the wind or the water. This had surprised Sam so much he couldn't stop staring until Nehemia gave him a little shove. He was surprised, while he had come across magic weilders and Fae, there hadn't been many around in these last years, and in Adarlan he was too young when magic was outlawed. He wondered how it would be in Erilea. Would they go back? Or had they been killed? He knew from the stories that plenty of them had an animal form, wolves, hawks, lions, and other animals that could kill a person just by looking them, so maybe they had gotten out of there or turned into their animal forms.

During that first day at sea, they just watched everyone, but specially the Fae, it seemed Sam wasn't the only one interested in them, he could tell by the look Nehemia and other passengers were giving them, though there also seemed to be passengers who didn't seem to care about them.

The first night was uncomfortable, when Sam had booked passage he hadn't specified if he wanted one bed or two, he had just said two passengers. When they got to their room they saw the bed. One big bed for the two of them. In the months that they had been together they hadn't done more than kissing, they hadn't even slept in the same bed, and now they would be sharing a bed during the weeks that it would take back to Erilea. Sam didn't mind this, but he didn't want Nehemia to think this had been on purpose, he was nervous to look at her face, but he swallowed the nerves and lifted his eyes to her.

"I'm sorry, I didn't really specified this." He said gesturing to the bed.

Nehemia to her credit, only let out a nervous laugh and said "It's not a problem" she must have seen Sam's surprised face, since she said "I mean, I don't mind sharing a bed if you don't.".

When they got in the bed, it seemed none of them knew what to do. Sam was worried that Nehemia would feel uncomfortable if he got too close if he moved to much. He knew she had never shared a bed with a man before, while she hadn't said it straight on he just knew it. He was only uncomfortable of making her uncomfortable. After a while he heard Nehemia's deep breaths, knowing that she was asleep he let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding and managed to relax. After a few minutes of looking at the ceiling and thinking of the woman next to him, he managed to fall asleep.

Hey guys, up until now I had been using chat gpt to correct spelling and style. But this chapter no longer has that since I felt it was changing too much. Let me know if there is anything you guys don't understand or anything of the sort. English is not my first language so maybe things I write could be better written or spelled, if that's the case I hope you still like it and keep reading.

Also, I want to thank howllog and Star_Duck_66 for always reading my work and commenting on it. It really helps me as a writer to know that my work is appreciated. I've had this story on my mind for a couple years and left it because I didn't think it was appreciated or relevant for that matter.

Hope you like this chapter, and this story as a whole. Let me know your hopes theories or just any comment you have on it! <3
