"But-"
"Not a word!" Izuku yelled, slapping an ice pack against Shindo's face.
"Ow!"
"And stop being a baby!" he snapped, grabbing the bloody paper towel and band aid wrappers as he stormed across the kitchen, slammed his foot down on the trashcan pedestal a little harder than was probably necessary and threw the trash away.
Shaking his head in disgust, he walked over to the sink and turned the hot water on.
"It wasn't my fault," Shindo said, standing up from where he'd told him to sit down and shut the hell up a half an hour ago when he'd found him on the ground trying to fend off blows from a spiky, ash blonde man that he was no longer talking to.
"Izuku," Shindo said, sighing heavily as he walked up behind him and placed his bloodied hands on either side of him on the kitchen sink, boxing Izuku in, "Can we just talk about this?"
"There's nothing to talk about," he said, sighing heavily as he scrubbed his hands clean.
"There could be," Shindo said, just as he felt his best friend's lips brush the top of his ear.
"Oh my gosh!" he gasped, quickly turning in Shindo's arms.
Izuku looked up at him, scanning all the cuts, bandages and quickly darkening bruises, worry twisting his stomach as Shindo stared deeply into his eyes.
Shindo leaned in, tilting his head to the side as he came closer. "Izuku," he whispered, ducking his head and-
"Ow! What the hell?" the man demanded, but Izuku ignored him as he twisted and turned his head, looking for a head injury that would explain why his best friend suddenly lost his damn mind.
"We should get you to the hospital," Izuku said, trying not to panic and wondering where he'd put his car keys.
Maybe he should call an ambulance?
Head injuries weren't something to play around with.
"Wait," Shindo said, shaking his head as he stepped back out of Izuku's reach, "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Getting you to the hospital!" he snapped, wondering what the hell was wrong with Shindo.
Time was of the essence here!
"Because I'm trying to kiss you?" Shindo asked, frowning.
"Yes!" he snapped, shoving past him to find his keys, but the man grabbed his hand and pulled him to a stop.
"I'm fine, Deku," Shindo said, sighing heavily as he used his hold on him to turn him around.
Worrying his bottom lip, Izuku let Shindo turn him around. "Then what's going on?"
Shindo entwined their hands together, caressing his thumb over the back of his hand.
"I'm trying to kiss you, Izuku," he said softly as he pulled him closer.
"Trying... to... kiss... me," he mumbled back, trying to make sense of what Shindo had just said when his best friend leaned down again to-
"Whoa!" he yelped, slapping his hand across Shindo's lips.
"Ow!" the man winced, stepping back and pressing his own fingertips against his split lip.
"Why are you trying to kiss me?" Izuku demanded, not giving a damn that he sounded a bit hysterical, because this was his best friend and best friends didn't kiss each other!
On the lips for that matter!
"Because I want to," Shindo said, reaching for him again, but this time, Izuku saw him coming and jumped back.
"Now? Seriously?" he couldn't help but shake his head in disgust. "Five years ago, when you took me out, the idea of kissing me turned your stomach and now suddenly, you can't seem to keep your lips to yourself?"
"It didn't turn my stomach!"
"Really? Because you could have fooled me," he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"You didn't want me to kiss you!" Shindo snapped.
"No, YOU didn't want to kiss ME!" he snapped back.
"The hell I didn't!" Shindo shouted, getting in his face.
"I-"
But Shindo wouldn't allow him to get a word in.
"I asked you out because I was attracted to you, but by the end of the date... " he let his words trail off with a shake of his head, "you started acting like I was your brother, not a date."
"You started to treat me like a kid brother!" he snapped, pissed that Shindo was playing this game with him.
"Because that's how you acted! Like my kid brother! We'd barely got through our first drink when you started treating me like an older brother and by the time I walked you to the door, you'd placed me firmly in the friend zone."
"No, I didn't!"
Shindo sighed heavily as he headed towards the front door.
"Yeah, you did. You do it with every guy," Shindo said, only to pause with a lazy gesture towards the front door before he added, "Except for the asshole living across the hall. You treat every guy you meet like he's your long lost brother, even that asshole that you were supposed to marry before."
