"I'm fine," Mitsuki, Katsuki's mother, said, waving off everyone's concerns and gesturing for everyone to eat.
"Honey, maybe we should go to the hos-" Dr. Masaru Bakugo began to say, only to stop mid-word when Mitsuki turned a furious glare on him.
"My oldest son brought home his boyfriend to have dinner with me and I'm damn well going to have dinner with him!" Mitsuki snapped at her husband, startling everyone at the table.
"Umm," Dr. Bakugo began to say, swallowing nervously as he slowly- ever so slowly- handed his wife the ice pack he'd been holding against the back of her head where she'd hit the edge of the couch when she'd passed out, and sat back in his chair. "Just let me know if it starts hurting."
"Uh huh," Mitsuki said, shifting her attention back on Izuku. "Would you like any more chicken, Izuku?" she asked pleasantly, startling him even more.
"N-No, thank you, I'm fine," he said, glancing down at his plate overflowing with food and wondering how he was going to eat all of this without getting sick.
"Are you thirsty?" Mitsuki asked, sounding eager as she gestured towards one of the many pitchers lining the long dining room table.
"I'm fine, thank you," he said with a smile.
"Are you sure?" Mitsuki asked, gesturing for one of her sons to pour him a glass of lemonade.
"He's fine, Mom," Katsuki said, waving his brother off and apparently sensing Izuku's discomfort for being the center of attention.
"Yes, yes of course," Mitsuki murmured, looking thoughtful as she absently pushed her mashed potatoes around on her plate.
"This is really good, Mrs. Bakugo," Izuku said with a smile as he took a bite of mashed potatoes.
"Please, call me Mitsuki."
He just nodded.
"So, tell me about yourself," Mitsuki said with a huge smile as soon as Izuku had food in his mouth.
"You already know all about him," Katsuki said, surprising him.
Mitsuki's eyes narrowed on Katsuki. "I have waited years for one of my inconsiderate sons to bring a nice young man home to meet me! You will not deny me this moment!"
Izuku watched in astonishment as every single one of Katsuki's brothers suddenly dropped their heads and become completely focused on their food while Mirio, Tenya, Hitoshi, and Mina sat there, clearly enjoying themselves.
Katsuki just sat there, pushing his food around on his plate as he stared down at the table.
Frowning, he looked from Katsuki to the end of the table where his father was also staring down at his plate, pushing his food around.
"Izuku?"
"Hmm?" he murmured, tearing his gaze away from Mr. Bakugo to focus on his wife, his really happy wife.
"Tell me about yourself, darling."
"There's really not that much to tell," he said, feeling self-conscious as every pair of eyes at the table looked up to watch him as he answered.
"I'm sure that's not true," Mitsuki said smiling. "Katsuki said you went to college?"
"Yes, ma'am," he said, clearing his throat as he shifted in his chair, subtly looking around, hoping that someone- anyone- was going to come to his rescue, but no one said anything. "I have a Master's in History with a concentration in Antiquities."
"Very nice, very nice," Mitsuki said, nodding approvingly. "And your family? Katsuki said that you're very close to your father?"
"Yes," he said, smiling weakly, because they were close, but over the last couple of months, he'd been avoiding his father.
He didn't want his old man to see how far he'd fallen, because it would only take one hug from his father to make him lose it and break down, telling him everything.
Izuku really missed him.
"Why are you here?" Katsuki suddenly asked, distracting him.
He looked over at the man to find him still sitting there, eyes narrowed on Mirio and Tenya before throwing him a subtle wink.
Izuku smiled gratefully as everyone's attention now turned to the cousins.
"There was a party," Mirio said, taking a large sip of his ice tea.
"And we weren't invited," Tenya finished for him with a careless shrug.
Okay, then...
"And Nejire and Ochaco?" Katsuki asked, still pushing around his food.
"Were," Mirio answered, taking a bite of mashed potato.
"And the kids?" Izuku asked, too curious to keep his mouth shut.
"Also invited," Tenya said, taking a bite of chicken.
"Then why weren't you-" he started to ask, only to get cut off when a ring erupted.
It was Mina's and she excused herself to answer it. Not a second passed and she was back.
Mitsuki asked her daughter who it was.
"It was Ochaco. She just thanked me for accompanying her at a lunch buffet yesterday." She said, taking a bite of one of the rolls on her plate just as a loud gasp drew everyone's attention to the other end of the table where Tenya stood, looking absolutely furious.
"She told me that she was running errands!"
"Just continue eating your food." Mina said, gesturing towards her cousin's plate.
Tenya grumbled as he sat back down and ate his food, sulking.
"Have you given any thought to joining us in Mecresh?" Mitsuki asked.
"I can't go, Mom," Katsuki said, continuing to push his food around on his plate.
"We already bought your ticket, Katsuki. I was talking to Izuku," his mother said, making him drop his fork on his plate with a clang as he sat back in his chair.
"Me?" Izuku asked, shooting Katsuki a questioning look.
